Janet Lloyd (Grant)

May 21, 1950 - February 5, 2018

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother Janet Lloyd Grant passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018, following a devastating stroke. Janet was born May 21, 1950 in Logan, Utah to Homer Sorenson Lloyd (deceased) and Gladys Manwaring (deceased).

She married Larry W. Grant December 27, 1972, in the Logan, Utah LDS temple. They spent most of their lives living in Layton raising their four children. She was a doting mother, attentive wife, and proud grandmother.

She attended Logan city schools and graduated from BYU in 1973. Her love of piano and music became a key point of her life. She shared her love of music and her love for others by teaching piano to hundreds of students over her lifetime. A self-taught composer, she wrote many songs that expressed her love for her family and her Savior. She also published a compilation of her music. She loved to serve others. While her church positions were many and varied, she was happiest sharing her homemade goodies with neighbors or donating her time in service. She served as an organist at the Bountiful temple. She honored her pioneer ancestors by organizing and leading the Hobbs Hollow camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, children, Micah L. (Kaelyn), Rebecca J. (Walter) Gillis, Jacob S. (Alyson), and Timothy J., her eight beautiful grandchildren, her sister JoAnne Williams, brothers Phillip (Johanna), and Stanford. Additionally, many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families will miss her unconditional unifying spirit of love and acceptance.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Forest Park LDS Chapel, 2250 East 2200 North, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Logan City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Intermountain Donor Services, LDS Humanitarian Fund or the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
