Ron Pedersen

After high school, I attended USU and served a mission. Graduated with accounting degee in 1974. Went to work for Deloitte and optained CPA. Left to join Utah Mortgage (later First Security Realty Services) in 1977 as CFO. While at Utah Mortgage I graduated from the School of Mortgage Banking, a program offered through Stanford and Northwestern Universities and the Mortgage Banking Association. In 1986 we moved to New York where I was CFO and then Chief Operating Officer for Norstar Mortgage, which at the time was New York's largest Mortgagee. In 1991, moved back to SLC as National Production Manager for CrossLand Mortgage. There I participated in a management led buyout with venture capitalists and purchased CMC, later sold to First Security. Continued to work there until First Security was sold to Wells Fargo. From 2002 through 2016 I managed secondary marketing for Academy Mortgage. That means I basically hedged the interest rate risk on their loan pipeline and sold the loans once they were closed. Academy is one of the largest independent mortgage banks in the country. I am now mostly retired and doing a bit of consulting in the mortgage banking industry.

I have great memories Logan High and how much fun those times were. So many good friends and down right special people. It is so rewarding to see the success of classmates and be able to say that I went to school with them. Miles (Tiger) Jensen was a great friend. You'll have to ask him about the "Tiger" part.

The most fun I have now, by far, is hanging out with grandkids. When we can't get together we can at least do facetime or talk on the phone. I hope that never changes. Enought to brighten up any day!

Grade school highlights. Getting invited to Bob Moore's birthday party with a pirate theme and a trip to Cedar City with Doug Hall and his mother to demonstrate paper mache'. Junior High highlights were getting to know kids from other elementary high schools. Jim Laub and Paul Larsen were especially nice to everyone. I remember Nancy Cluff, Syd Bullen and Marie Barrus in cute little Charleston outfits in a school talent show. Ouch! And then there was the earthquake! As Sophs Dale Hadfield talked some Senior girls (Dale was a great persuader), Jan Seamons and Joyce Erickson, into being in a club with us with a secret handshake ending with a hug. Still remember the looks we got in the school hallways doing the hug part and big smiles. I remember Phil Olsen calling a mouse at football practices and saying he would squish me like a bug. I believed him. Dave Abel was such a remarkable athlete and a down right good person. Such great memories of a football team that ended up being really good and being able to run so many Kamikaze plays in practice. Acceptance by Willie, Benny, Randy, Emmett, Laub, Kirk, et al made me feel lucky.
