San Benito High School teacher Lee Arthur Braun, 56, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Braun graduated from California State University Long Beach with a Bachelors Degree then earned a Masters at the City University at Bellevue, Wash.

Before moving to Hollister to begin a 20-year career teaching in the Special Education Department, as well as Drivers Training and Education at San Benito High School, Mr. Braun taught at his alma mater, CSU in Long Beach for five years.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His wife Gloria said: "Besides being very devoted to his family, he enjoyed the time spent with his family and many friends."

He was an avid Dodgers fan; and Baler sports enthusiast – attending all baseball, basketball, and football games at home and away. He loved water sports, swimming, camping, ping pong, riding bikes, music and dancing."

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bocanegra Braun of Hollister, step-children, Anthony and Nathan Suniga of Los Banos; and Nicole and Jason Suniga of Hollister; seven grandchildren in Hollister, Los Banos, and Sacramento. As the son of the late Florence and Arthur Braun, he is the brother of Dean Braun of Laguna Hills and Don Braun of Parker, Ariz.; brother-in-law of Julie Braun of Laguna Hills, and a nephew Daron Denton of Scottsdale, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by sister Kairane Denton.

Arrangements have been made for private cremation at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Crematory, Hollister with private inurnment.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of Mr. Braun's life on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at noon at the chapel.

John Debaun

Lee and I played football together. He was a good guy, but people used to mix us up because of the similarity of our last names. Kind of the twin I never had.
