In Memory

Richard Deight

Deight, Richard Dana, born 9/11/48 in NY City, passed away 12/6/2010 after complications from mitral valve surgery. A graduate of UC Berkeley School of Architecture he was employed by the city of LA for 30+ years designing Recreation & Parks buildings. If the buildings were modern and sleek he probably had a hand in the design. As a teenager he played first violin at Millikan High School, Long Beach and was also in the All City Orchestra. He was one of those rare people with perfect pitch. After retiring he returned to the violin. He loved skiing, classic cars, alternative rock and working out in the gym. An avid letter writer, he was published in the OC Register, LA Times, and various car magazines. He leaves behind Sherry, his loving wife of 22 yrs, parents Larry and Blanche; 3 sons, Jared Richard, Trevor Jordan and Joshua Lawrence; step-son, James Stephens and wife Sarah; 2 sisters, Pat Griffin and husband Bob, Terri Jahn and husband Rolf and 2 nieces, Kiley and Evelena Jahn. He was taken too soon and will be sorely missed. A memorial will be held at the Cornerstone Church, 4905 E. La Palma, Anaheim, Jan 22, 2011 and 1:00 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to CAN (Cure Autism Now). - See more at: http://obits.ocregister.com/obituaries/orangecounty/obituary.aspx?n=richard-dana-deight&pid=147598780#sthash.mzazrBaJ.dpuf
