Royce sang at our wedding in 1969.  He had the most beautiful voice.  I had lunch with him a few months before he died.... and I still miss him very much.

Was it Royce that was in The Chrisy Minstrel's for a time?

I don't know about the Christy Minstrels, but he was with Up With People for several years.  Maybe that's what you're thinking of... or maybe he was with both?

As I recall, it was just for a short time.  At any rate, he was a nice person and that's what I remember about him. :-)

I remember that Jackie Oxley, Royce Gibson and I decided to sing together--we thought we might become a trio.  That lasted one practice, but it was fun.  I can't believe both of them are now gone. :(

Royce was a cheerleader with me.  We had lots of good times together.  He was a member of the professional performing group "The Young Americans." Their goal was to show "the good youth of America" -- we had many a good laugh about that!!!

Royce and I knew each other since kindergarten, attending Minnie Gant and then Stanford J.H. and of course Millikan.  We were in the ballroom dancing group together at Call's Fine Arts Center for many years and I followed his career with "The Young Americans."  He was so talented in many areas.  He was the kid in elementary school during an assembly who would stand up, at the teacher's request, and sing an opening song.  We miss you, Royce.

Royce was a great leading man as Curly in Oklahoma in 1966 at Millikan. He gave me a beautiful bouquet of roses at the end of our final show. Great singer.

After the Young Americans, Royce was in a singing/dance group that backed Mac Davis. We met after college & became friends. We would visit his parents often in Long Beach. We had planned on attending the 20 yr reunion together, & literally at the last minute I found out he wasn't able to attend due to illness. We used to go out dancing together with some of my college friends, & everyone warmed to him with his sense of humor.

Thank you all for filling in the missing parts of Royce's life for the rest of us.  Rest in Peace Royce.
