We lost my dear friend Roger many years ago, to cancer.  We only met at Millikan, as I was from that minority JHS DeMille.  His older brother Neil and mine were 2 years ahead of us, and we all met in Key Club and playing football. Our personalities a perfect fit.

Roger spent time in the Air Force Reserve as an engine mechanic, before a very successful business consulting career.  We used to dream about setting up a Caribbean amphibian charter flying operation with me as pilot, him as mechanic, and Jim Witt as business manager - didn't happen as I didn't want to leave the Air Force.  All our lives could have turned out so differently - another of so many different paths we could have taken!

Roger and Marilyn (Quist) were totally devoted to each other and the most loving couple I've known.  She was devastated by his loss, and I have never been able to get in contact with her.

My kindest thoughts to his family.

Thank you Tim for this tribute to Roger. I hope you don't mind if I use it for the Memorial portion of the 50th Memory Book and DVD.

I have been unable to find much on him and now I know why.

Sharon

You're most welcome to, Sharon.  Please let me know if you ever hear from either the Stampe or Quist families.

Best,

Tim

I went to Prisk Elementary School with Roger for many years--we sat near each other in quite a few classes.  He was a genuinely nice boy at a time when most boys were "yukky."  I was so sorry to hear of his death many years ago.
