Obituary

Lynn Bailey Branson was born on September 25th, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio

to Henry and Audrey Bailey. She had two older siblings who always watched

out for her. Their baby sister was such a part of their lives-the many years were

filled with love and warmth, so much so that they never moved more than 6

miles from one another.

Lynn lived in Cleveland for four years until her mom said, "Time to move to

California." They packed up the 1951 Ford and off to California they went.

The family settled in Long Beach in 1953; she had so much fun watching the

new home being built, running in and out of the framework, picking out her

room.

Lynn was part of the first group to go through Cubberley Elementary. She was

the cutest olive-complexioned, toe-headed, green-eyed little gal. After

elementary school came Marshall Jr. High; she met friends there she kept her

entire life.

During her younger years, you would see her wearing cut-off Levis and

"tennies" while riding her skateboard (It was just a shoe-skate with metal

wheels with a board on top.) She travelled all around her neighborhood,

especially up to Thrifties for an ice cream. Boy, she loved her ice cream.

As she made her way through her high school years at Millikan, she would

meet many of her closest and dearest friends that she would cherish her whole

life. Lynn only ditched once, if you can believe that, and got caught by her

mom at the corner. "But everyone did it," she said. Her friends she made

during her Ram years were dear, close friends for 50 years. They still met for

parties, luncheons, functions, reunions, and 60th birthday parties.

Lynn worked a few different jobs during her teen years, from Quigley's to

Herron Optical-Matrix.

In 1968, Lynn married her high school sweetheart, Michael O'Neil but after

two and a half years, he was tragically taken in a car accident.

Lynn learned how to cook in those days, making tuna casserole forgetting the

tuna, and spaghetti that stuck to the plate if you turned it upside down. She

would say she had other talents other than cooking. And her talent was making

people smile. She loved people.

Her love for people would only be surmounted with the arrival of her beautiful

daughter Rhonda in 1974. Lynn adored her sweet bundle of joy and being a

mommy was her favorite job. As Rhonda went off to school, Lynn joined the

rest of the family and worked at Von's, where she became everyone's favorite

checker.

In the eighties, she left Von's and opened Mom's U-Bake with her husband

Glenn. It quickly became a friend and family must-have dinner. While running

the pizza place in 1996, Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer. After

chemotherapy and surgery, she was cancer free for ten years. She treasured

those years with her loving family. The sweetest year was 1998 with the birth

of her precious granddaughter, Tylo. She was the proud grandma at every

event, not missing a single soccer game, recital, open house, softball game,

vacation adventure, etc. She was a true doting Nannie.

Unfortunately in 2006, she would once again take on the challenge of fighting

cancer. It returned this time in her bones. Lynn, being the trooper that she was,

never questioned why or complained. She just did what the doctor said. From

that day forward, the cancer would continue to spread. In 2012, it settled in her

brain and treatment continued. She underwent brain surgery in the summer of

2013. Her positive attitude was always shining through, but eventually her

body became tired. We lost our amazing Lynn. God only takes the best!

Rest in Eternal Peace Lynn
