In Memory

Sandy Sifford (Stevens)

Sandy Sifford Stevens

Born in Whittier, California on June 15th, 1948 to the late Mack and Donna Sifford, Sandy passed away June 16th, 2014 after a long, hard, tenuous fight from cancer, with her daughters Brenda and Tina and son-in-law George Conte by her side.

Sandy was the mother of Christina Lynn Stevens and Brenda Michelle Stevens, step-mom to Jammin Ray Fraga, Cameo Raylene Fraga, and Anthony Jesse Fraga III, grandmother of Kylie Michelle Thompson and Matthew Albert Conte, and beloved companion, and best friend of Benjamin "Magic" Fraga. She was married and widowed to David Michael Stevens on October 16. 1976. Sandy will dearly be missed.

Sandy was a Palo Verde Unified School District employee for 27 years before her retirement. She was always known at work as the smiling, funny, laughable but dedicated employee who brightened the days of all work employees she surrounded. Sandy always worked two or three jobs to ensure her daughters were well taken care of. At home she was a devoted, yet independent mother who raised her daughters with compassion and endearing devotion as a single mother. She treasured every moment with her daughters until her granddaughter Kylie entered her life from daughter Brenda and son-in-law Nolan Thompson. Her grandson Matthew ventured into her life from daughter Tina and son-in-law George Conte ten years later. As with raising her daughters she helped raise her grandchildren in the same fashion along the Colorado River.

Sandy loved living on the river, working outside on her pool and yard. Sandy loved dancing to her favorite tune, “Light My Fire” by the Doors. She was avid at playing table games, hosting party functions, bass fishing, anything to do with the outdoors and HER Colorado River. Sandy had her own ANIMAL FARM over the years; raising dogs, cats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, birds, geese and rescued many an animal along her shores at Ranchos Not So Grande. She enjoyed taking her kids and grandkids on tubing floats, pontoon boat trips, water skiing, wake boarding, sand bar gatherings and other water sports her entire life. She loved her BBQs and get-togethers with neighbors, friends and family.

She was a sports fan through and through, participating in her daughter's and grandchildren’s volleyball, softball and t-ball games. And of course, she couldn’t wait for Superbowl Sunday hosting 14 Superbowl Parties in Laughlin with her buddy/sidekick “Magic”. People came for all over the country to attend this yearly event.

She was the best friend, mother, grandmother, neighbor, anyone could ever have, and Blythe and all of us have lost a wonderful, caring person.

Memorial services for Sandy will be held Saturday, June 21st at 10:00 am at Frye Chapel in Blythe.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy's family asks to please make donations to our local cancer center at Blythe Cancer Resource Center, P.O. Box 1266, Blythe, CA 92226.

Sandy Sifford and Dave Stevens are at last together again. Rest in Eternal Peace

Breaks my heart.  We were just getting reunited and it's so sad.  I wish I'd have known her struggles.  I love the wedding picture.  Does anyone know who to send a card - rather, where?
