Hunz, Jill Age 51 of Buffalo. Jill passed away on Christmas morning, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. Jill was diagnosed in May of 2002 with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Her battle with ALS opened many new doors including a new fondness for travel, and inspiring new love and talent for quilting, and a new found group of friends in the form of care- givers. She will be missed by a few, but admired by many for her strong will and fight to live the best life she could with ALS. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Tyler and Jocelyn Craig (David); grandchildren, Greta Craig and Inga Craig; sister, Gwen Thompson (Pete) and Barbara Thell (Gene); several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at 10:30 AM with visitation starting at 9 AM at Our Father's Lutheran Church, 3903 Gilbert Ave S.E., Rockford, MN. Rettinger Funeral Home Long Lake/Orono 952-473-6954
Jill volunteered with Love INC - Heartland a non profit I direct. She was very busy carrying food for people at this food give away. Her determination and amazing attitude were something to be admired.
I was re-acquainted with Jill many years after graduation. I'd see her at the annual Tom & Jerry party at Bonnie and Dave's always in the winter, and always a good time. This was taken at her 50th birthday party. She showed me her amazing quilts. She told me she started teaching herself how to quilt when she was diagnosed. She wanted to make something special for her family and friends, something they could hold and and feel comfort in her momeory of love and happiness.
No longer able to play the piano, I felt a twinge of sadness as I looked at the keys her fingers knew so well.
