I went to college at Lewis and Clark College in Oregon without ever having seen the college, or without ever having been to Oregon. It was a good fit for me, and I've been in the Portland area ever since. I graduated in 1983 with a degree in English, and went on to get an MA in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark in 1987. I have a daughter, Katherine, from my first marriage. In 1993 I remarried. My husband, Doug, had two children, Sam & Kate. Together we had Sarah, rounding out an amazing blended family, even though Sam & Kate spent school years with their mom in another state.
I worked as a counselor at a local community college until the Sarah was born, and then spent a lot of time working to keep our crazy family situation functional. I helped my husband with a family business until 2005, when I quit to start my own company, I Am Story Studios, through which I help people write their personal and family histories. It's wonderful work, and I'm glad to have found an outlet to combine my love of story, writing, and human behavior.
