I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Chantel Cole. Sadly after high school we lost touch. I do remember living in the same neighborhood as Chantel and we would walk to and from Longs Peak together. She was a free spirit with a beautiful smile and a gentle soul. I remember laughing with her about boys and our hair. We both mastered the 'high up' in front and 'flat in back' style. I also remember conversing with her about the seriousness of being young and maybe home life issues. She was good to walk and talk that Chantel. Her smile is burned on my brain. My condolences to her family. Peace and love Chantel...until we meet again.
Chantel passed away in 2003. I attended her funeral, and Ryan Unrein was there as well. It was held at a Catholic church in town, and if I remember correctly she was buried at the church next to her mother. I've been unsuccessful in finding her obituary. She had a son that attended the deaf and blind school in Colorado Springs. I never did find out what the cause of death was. At the time of the funeral it was still inconclusive. Chantel was to pick her son up at the bus station, but never made it. She was found on the floor in her house.

Thank you Denise for posting Chantel's obituary. This means a lot to me to know that she was a mother and still that social butterfly I remember her to be as. Appreciate you sharing with us. Peace to all!
I remember hangining out with her at her house on Grant Street and watching Freddy Kruger. I may be starting a rumor, but I think somone told me her death had something to do with a severe ashsma attack. Very, very sad.
Amy, you may be correct regarding the cause of death. Chantel was a severe asthmatic her entire life. I remember spending the night at her house once when we were attending Mtn. View, wondering if we were going to have to take her to the hospital - it was frightening. I asked her brother Todd at the funeral if it was related to the asthma, and at the time he said no. Maybe they found evidence after-the-fact that it was.
