From Charlie Engel:

Ed was always laughing and joking. He served his country proudly as a Marine flight officer. He was a member of the state runner-up cross country team in 1967.

Ed was my best friend throughout Elementry, Junior High School, and High School. We grew up together in the same neighborhood. Seems we did everything together for all those years. We lost touch after high school and only talked with him some twenty years later after I retired from the USAF. I'm sadden about his passing and will miss him dearly, but all the great memories remain.

Ed was a great guy, very concerned about his family...I know he is missed by his immediate family, my heart goes out to them.....

Recent news stories about the annual spelling bee reminded me that, 49 years ago this spring, Ed represented South Seminole Elementary School (brand new school at that time!) at the county spelling bee in Sanford. He was scared and proud and happy and surprised to be there. While he didn't take first place, he did an outstanding job competing against "the big kids" (7th and 8th graders).

Ed and I visited and danced a dance or two at the last reunion we both attended in November 2002. Ed was a great guy. Rest in peace, old friend.
