PHILIP DANIEL TODD

LOOGOOTEE — Philip Daniel Todd, 17, drown at West Boggs Lake at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 1988.
He was born February 5, 1971, in Daviess Country to Philip G. and Catherine A. (Strange) Todd and would have been a member of the senior class at Loogootee High School this fall. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Whitfield, an altar boy and a member of the C.Y.O. at the church. He was on the school track team, a member of the chorus and the F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America).
He belonged to the 4-Leaf Clovers 4-H Club, the Martin County Humane Society and the Martin County Coon Hunters' Association where he was the winner of the 1987 I.C.H.A. State Championship U.K.I. nite hunt, for the highest scoring youth and he also won I.C.H.A. State Championship U.K.C. nite hunt, 2nd place overall in the 16 and over age group.
He was employed part-time at the farms of Ike Montgomery and Kenny Troutman.
A mass of the Resurrection and gravesite ceremonies were held Saturday, June 18, 1988, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Church in Whitfield with Msgr. Carl Shetler officiating, assisted by Jim Todd and Carl Walker. Don Arvin was the reader. Titzer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Brian Arvin, Brian Dant, Byron Hoffman, Charles Wessell, Bob Robbins, Bob VanHoy, Kevin Graber, and Steve Strange.
Surviving along with his parents is one brother, Patrick, at home. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Todd, Whitfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Rita) Goffinet, Loogootee; John G. Strange, Crane; Mrs. Cecilia Arvin of Loogootee is a great-grandmother.
A special multi-purpose fund has been established by friends in Phil's honor. Contributions may be sent to the Philip Todd Memorial Fund, School Superintendent, Box 282, Loogootee.
