Los Banos Union High 57th Class Reunion
By Mary Anderson
The 57th Class Reunion of Los Banos Union High School was a gala celebration organized by Chairman Jack Wheeler. It was held on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 which was the same day and date of their actual graduation.
The Reunion was held at the Westside Elementary School – which was the former Los Banos Union High School. The original number of class members was 72, 30 of whom are since deceased. The number of the original graduating class attending this year was 25, plus 14 guest spouses.
Walking down memory lane included going through the old corridors, going up and down the stairways of the original building, while sharing stories and laughter of those days and signing pages of paper to insert in our year books. Many pictures were taken while some classmates checked out the classrooms where some had attended Spanish, English, Civics, Business, History and Art classes back in those old days! Discussions of former teachers and coaches enriched our memories.
While eating lunch, memories of the Senior High School Championship Team were shared, along with lots of laughter. Some wistfully recalled where we’d often eaten lunches by a huge old tree – long since removed – and socialized. Some of the students had even stolen a kiss with their sweethearts we recalled.
At our 50th Reunion, Joey Paradiso brought his 1957 Chevy convertible and pulled our float in the Homecoming parade!
25 classmates and guest met at the Country Waffles for breakfast on Sunday, June 8th.
A special thank you to Principle Joe McColloch, Westside Elementary School for his cooperation and hospitality to the class of 1957
