#1 Great things going on in our life from Terry and Joan Ogle 2/13/25: This is our way of giving back! Well for Joan and I, for the last 9 years we have been volunteering at the nearby National Naval Aviation Museum. We have accumulated over 1,000 hours of volunteer time. Joan works in the area called Homefront which is a section dedicated to 1943 Pensacola during WWII. She explains the war time rationing and family participation with blue star and gold star program. As a Naval Aviator serving in a helicopter combat squadron, I conduct the floor tour which I walk through 150 different aircraft and explain the ddevelopment of Naval Aviation through the stories of Naval Aviators beginning with the Wright Brothers in 1903, covering WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the fall of Saigon in 1975. My tours last 3 hours and last week I started with 70 visitors. It is always good to rehearse the works of our military particularly navy pilots flying off of ships over water that protect our way of life against all enemies - I tell their stories of courage and sacrifice! By the way our two sons were Navy pilots and now fly for Southwest and we have a grandson who is a Marine helicopter pilot now returning from his first deployment in Japan. Maybe if you ever come to Pensacola, I would be happy to give you and your friends a private tour! Terry Ogle.
