Obituary
Julia Ritchie Mudd, 79, passed peacefully on July 29th, 2024, at Baptist East in Louisville, KY. She was born on June 24th, 1945, in Louisville, KY., the daughter of Jerome K. & Virginia T. Ritchie. Wife, mother, grandmother; daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.
Devoted to her puppies and her family, she very much viewed herself as a mama bear. A determined caretaker and fiercely protective, she never failed family. No matter difficult situations or challenging circumstances, she answered the bell to display her quiet, but iron character.
She remains beautiful, a romantic. A lifelong reader. Generous, a giver, a lover and savior of animals, she donated greatly to the Humane Society and wildlife causes. She adopted a newborn thoroughbred with a cleft palate, sparing him an otherwise certain fate.
She is reunited with her best friend Chase, and with Etienne, Rascal, Piper, Katie, and Lily. She is survived by her best puppy Sawyer, and by Trapper, Teddy, and Max.
She is also survived by her husband, Joseph F. Mudd, 82, by her sons Joseph Lee Mudd, 56, and Joseph Scott Mudd, 53, and by her granddaughter Monika M. Mudd, 31.
She is missed.
Her funeral Mass & memorial service will be Friday, August 9th, at 10 AM, at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Ave., Louisville, KY., 40204. There will be catered reception to follow at 11 AM, at the church.
Donations in her honor may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society.

Julie Ritchie Mudd, who was very active on the reunion committee some years ago, passed away on July 29, 2024. There will be a memorial service on August 9th at 10:00 am.
This from Pat: Scott has gone ahead and made arrangements for a celebration Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St Brigid Catholic Church on Hepburn Avenue in the Highlands on August 9th. He's heard from some family members coming in from out of town and was going to go ahead and book it early. I hope you can raise a crowd, Julia was always proud to have grown up with all of your gang and to have spent her whole Junior High and High School time at Waggener.
