Obituary

Carol “Sue” Young 76 passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021. in Jupiter, FL. Sue attended/graduated from the University of Louisville and Indiana University and did her clinical training for Physical Therapy at Vanderbilt University. She then opened her own P.T. Practice in Jupiter, Fla. Sue retired in December 2014 from the Kentucky State Reformatory as a Physical Therapist. Sue was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church until she relocated in 2015 to move to Jupiter, Fla to be with her family. While in Louisville, she was very involved in The Marian Center for many years, which for 9 of those years she was President. She was the leader of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel prayer group, conducted many bible studies over the years and was instrumental in bringing others to her Catholic Faith, which was very important to her. In Jupiter, She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was a member of their ladies' prayer group. Sue is survived by her son, Robert Summers Young (Kathryn Elliott Young); daughter, Laura Young Holloway (Lee Campbell Holloway); grandchildren, Christina Marie, Larrisa Clare, Gabrielle Elizabeth, Nicholas Jacob, Holly Anne, and Amanda Grace Holloway and Lillian Ruth and Grady Summers Young; and brother, Terry Shellhamer (Barbara Dunn Shellhamer) and Craig Shellhamer (Michele Ham Shellhamer). A Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church 639 S. Shelby St with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021 at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home 3711 Lexington Rd. “In St. Matthews”.
