James Dix

1st married in Dec. 1972 (Cindy Balawender, Mayfield Hts. High class of '70).
Graduated Ashland College (Ashland, Ohio) in 1973 with a B.S. in Education (double major Health & Physical Education). Worked as Ashland YMCA Physical Director for 2-yrs. and did some public school substitute teaching before hiring in at The Timken Co. as a machine operator / NC-Programmer (more money & better benefits). Resided in Ashland 12-yrs. and we were active members of Ashland Assembly of God church. Moved to southern California in 1985. Got into the aerospace industry immediately working for Parker-Hannifin (head quartered in Cleveland, ironically); then worked for McDonnell Douglas for a spell where I received CAD/CAM training. I am currently employed at GE Aviation doing CNC Programming & Tool Design(CAD/CAM work). I use exculsively a software named Unigraphics and I simply love it! I'm privileged to say I had a part in the manufacturing of both the main & nose landing gear of the new prototype unmanned UCAS aircraft (X-47B) made by Northrop Grumman (see photo).
Married (Carla) Feb. 1996, she passed away Jan. 2018

Well... having an odd last name like I do; you can imagine how embarassing it was for me to be on the football field, in the huddle, with 100's of fans in attendance, and the substitute player coming in for me, running across the field yelling at the top of his lungs... "Dix out" !! The guys in the huddle would crack-up every time! Being 1/2 Italian; it would have been much nicer with a name like "Lunardelli" or something... ha,ha!
