Stan Stebing (MHS 1966)

I found Greg's obituary in the Herald and Seattle Times on Sunday.  The following can be found at http://www.flintofts.com/.

Greg Lee McCollum
November 17, 1950 - March 27, 2016

Service:   April 10, 2016

Please join us to celebrate his life on Sunday, April 10th at 2:00 pm at the Glendale Country Club in Bellevue.

Greg McCollum peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 with his soul mate at his side.

Greg was born on November 17, 1950 to Gary and Joyce McCollum.  He was the oldest of the family, growing up in Lynnwood with his four younger sisters, Shelley, Stacey, Sherri, and Stephanie.

Greg graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1969, where he was an all-around athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball.  He was highly regarded for his talent, earning recognition as All Western Conference in basketball for two years, all Western Conference in baseball for three years and All-State baseball in both 1968 and 1969.  He was awarded athlete of the year by his high school for his senior year.

Greg’s athletic prowess was hotly pursued by a number of colleges for multiple sports.  He ultimately decided to accept a full ride scholarship to the University of Puget Sound where he played first base for four years and ranked among the nation’s best NCAA College Division batsmen.  After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and played in the Florida minor league for two years.   Greg also played baseball for a number of years with the Cheney Studs.  He began with the team in 1969 and continued playing until 1986, taking a break during that time to play with the Red Sox organization.  He served as coach of the Studs from 1981 to 1984.  Greg was quick to remind us - Once a Stud, Always a Stud!

In 1991, Greg’s beautiful daughter Jennifer was born.  Greg was a dedicated father who treasured the time he spent with his little girl.  The daddy daughter dinner dances at the WAC were an annual tradition they looked forward to together.   He enjoyed coaching Jennifer’s basketball and softball teams.  And they could often be found hitting it out of the park at the batting cages.  Drinking root beer floats and watching old western movies was a favorite past time, as was sharing their love of Mexican and Thai food.

In 2002, Greg was introduced to Jennifer Clark.  He was smitten from the beginning and so began their 14-year love affair.  Their lives became interwoven, each bringing friends and family into the fold of their world together.  Greg was a devoted fan of Jennifer’s son Morgan, cheering him on at countless basketball games.  As one of four of Morgan’s “parents”, Greg could always be counted on to provide Morgan with quiet reminders to take out the garbage.  Together, Jennifer and Greg, enjoyed travelling to Cannon Beach during stormy weather, cocktailing by the pool in Maui, and relaxing in the desert sun of Arizona.

“Mac” will be remembered as a dearly loved father, partner, son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend.  His life, and the way he lived it, touched all he knew.  He was warm and caring, gentle and kind – he truly was a genuine, nice man.   He was always there for anyone that needed him – family and friends alike.  He was a good friend and he worked at it!   And he was a master at keeping in touch.  His friends are amazing, like him, with long histories of time together.  All of those that knew him benefitted from the special friendship and love of family that he shared.

Greg’s survivors include his daughter Jennifer McCollum; his earth angel Jennifer Clark and her son Morgan; his mother Joyce; his sisters Shelley, Stacey, Sherri, and Stephanie, and his beloved nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his father, Gary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Evergreen Hospice - 12822 124th Lane NE, Kirkland, WA  98034.

Michael Richard Tisdel(1951 - 2017)

July 20, 1951 - September 2, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Richard Tisdel, husband, father, grandfather, and friend and mentor to many. Michael was realistic and faced a diagnosis of aggressive lung cancer with bravery; all-the-while maintaining his wit and famous sense of humor. As was his nature, he worried more about the well-being of others than the personal crisis and outcome that he was facing. We will truly miss this wonderful human being. Michael was born on July 20, 1951 and grew up in Seattle and the Greater Seattle area. Aside from a short stay in California, he was a life-long resident of King and Snohomish Counties. A hard worker even in his youth, he spent many a Saturday and summers working at his grandfather's grocery store in downtown Seattle where he was adored by the customers he would deliver groceries to. He had the character and disposition that made him a favorite to friends and relatives alike. He attended school in Seattle until age 11, when the family moved to Lynnwood, WA. He graduated from Meadowdale High School, Class of '69, and joined the Navy with a group of close friends; Doug, Butch, Tom, and Tony. His Navy career was shortened and he moved to the Bay-area in California where he met his first wife Carolyn. They moved back and Michael began working for his dad's company, Tiz's Door Sales in Everett, WA where he worked for many years while raising four children. It is there that he met his companion, confidant and friend, wife, Cherie. Michael always had an attraction to the art of boxing. He became an assistant coach for the Everett Firefighters Boxing Club and spent much of his spare time teaching, training, and mentoring the young boxers. There he established a close relationship with his good friend and fellow coach Ed Rogers. The two remained best of friends up to the time of Ed's passing in 2016. Michael's family meant the world to him as he did to them. He leaves behind his wife, Cherie; mother, Dorothy Musch; father, Don (Tiz) Tisdel; his four children, Shannon (Michelle), Michael, Debbie (Doug), Darin (Nancy); and step-daughter Shawna (Dave); grandchildren, Dustyn, Serenity, Kramer, Kyle, Greg, Logan; and step-grandchildren, Clyde and Van; brothers, Lee (Debbie), Mark (Patty), Matt, Robert, Greg; and sister, Taryn (Jeff). He was a favorite uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to his large extended family. He was preceded in death by step-father, Carl; step-mother, Joyce; and brother, Sam. The family invites you to attend a "Celebration of Life" on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Mill Creek Golf and Country Club located at 15500 Country Club Drive in Mill Creek, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice and Home Care Center of Snohomish County.

I'm in for this.  No matter the dates or the venue.  I will send you a phone number for one person not on this site and for whom you have no information.  Will text you what I have so you can make contact if you so desire.  Not sure what help I can be of since I am in Missouri.  Take care.
