Lori Kirk (Woody)

Thanks Meg....I stumbled across the Holiday Inn Express online....I wasn't sure if the Madera Valley Inn was still alive. Good to know it's still there...I love your profile and pictures...You and Joey look GREAT! It's way cool that you all are together.....Can't wait to see you at the Reunion!

Consider this a way to clean out your garage, attic, or junk drawer.....Please bring some ancient high school or even earlier photo of yourself, or group pictures of you and some MHS friends. Maybe we can have a guessing game of who it is, or just have fun commenting on the outstanding fashions of the late 70's.

How about we have a place to post pictures from the last reunion? I'll start digging and see if I can locate the ones I took. Everyone looks great and I am SO looking forward to seeing everyone again and catching up!

Are we going to have fun prizes for things like Who has the most kids? Most Grandkids? Who lives farthest from Madera? Who lives in the same house? or other dubious honors?

Michael Gong

btw I have already been nominated for being the oldest parent by Kaaren. (youngest children)

Yes, Mike, but you have some close competition from a couple of us, myself included. Michelle Kennedy Clements too. Keeps us young though, right? Or at least explains the gray hairs.

Mitzie Medeiros (Allred)

Thanks Carla, this is great. I've kept track of maybe a handful of classmates on my Christmas card list. It's been really fun reading profiles. I don't know that I will make it to the reunion, so hi to all, have some fun for me and I'll be thinking of you!

Thanks Carla, This is wonderful, you did a great job. Giving us classmates the opportunity to re-connect, especially those of us who won't be able to attend. Thanks again, Carla Capra

I wanted to thank Mitzie for letting me know about the web-site. It will be great keeping up with old friends.

I'm really enjoying this site, Carla. Nice job! For those in the running for oldest parent with youngest child, I thought I would pass on that Jane (Susie) Jacobson had her first child in February 2005. I think she has plans to attend the reunion.

Another thanks for the great job Carla..this is a major step back in time catching up on what everyone has been doing the last 30 years...WOW!

Hi everybody
How grateful we are for a fantastic website focusing on a fantastic group of kids (and we will always be kids to each other...how cool is THAT!)
Please everybody - if you know ANYBODY who is not on the attendee list for the reunion - give them a quick call to make sure they know about it. We have ordered table-ware and are into the final planning - our good time is just around the corner...!
See you soon,
Tam

Okay, reality time. I may have to do a bit of work Friday afternoon before our fun evening begins, so can anyone in Madera tell me where to find local wireless access (preferably free!), other than Starbucks? Thanks!

07/07/08 01:01 PM #27

Sharon Bass

Carla, try Sierra-Tel Internet

07/07/08 10:39 PM #28

Carla Simi (Green)

Thanks, Sharon, but I meant someplace I can take my laptop and access the Internet wirelessly.

Sharon Bass

Oh.., I knew that.

Carla, Starbucks always sounds good to me, but I can understand that the expresso machine noise wouldn't be conducive to a good working environment. I don't know if there is a internet cafe in Madera, but some of the copy/packing stores (like UPS) have connections--for a price. There's a UPS store in Madera on Cleveland 664-1150, I think there are similar packing stores on Howard, but I only have a limited phone book. I wonder if you could just wirelessly connect in the lobby of a hotel? Most county libraries have free internet use, although on their equipment, you might try there. That's all I know. Meg

Meg,

You are so helpful! You haven't changed a bit. Whereas my response would be:

Carla,

You have got to be kidding.

07/08/08 09:18 PM #32

Carla Simi (Green)

Kidding about working? No, because I haven't changed much either. But I will be able to enjoy that first glass of wine a lot more if all my t's are crossed before then.

Hey, maybe we should just start the casual reception Friday afternoon at Starbucks...

John Campbell

Carla,

No, the working part doesn't surprise me in the least about you. I meant you've got to be kidding about "wireless access" in Madera! It's not the gleaming city of the future you've read about in the magazines. But I will happily loan you some bandwidth if Starbucks fails you. ;0)

HEY...ONLY ONE MORE DAY TILL OUR RE-UNION :O ARE WE EXCITED? ARE WE NERVOUS? I'M A LITTLE BIT OF BOTH. CAN'T WAIT.

07/10/08 03:27 PM #35

Tanya Ferguson (Sumner)

Heck yes we're excited!!! Is Lori Woody REALLY coming all the way from Tennessee???? WOW!

Okay, so my brother Jim is backing out of coming now!!! Everyone get on the horn and convince him he will NOT want to miss it!!!!

See you all there!!!!

Robyn Helms (Nelson)

Hey Carla, if you're staying with your folks, I've got satellite wireless available at my house which isn't too far away - Road 29/Ave 5 1/2. Give a call if you still need a connection. 706 8042

07/10/08 05:00 PM #37

Carla Simi (Green)

Robyn, thanks so much! Yes, I am staying with my folks but I think lady luck is actually on my side for once and I will not have to work tomorrow. My sister, Robin, in Fresno was my fallback position but you are even closer.

And for anyone else who may be interested, my search for wireless access indicates that apparently you can now get bandwidth with your burger at McDonald's. All 3 Madera locations show up as free wifi hotspots.

So maybe Madera is not the gleaming city of the future, but with Starbucks, a wine trail and wifi at McDonald's, it is not the dusty backwater of 30 years ago!

See you all tomorrow/Saturday.
