Chester Warren Fowler, 59, of Dupont, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He was born Nov. 6, 1952, in Madison, the son of Chester R. and Bonnie J. Mahoney Fowler. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1971 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He was in the Army and rose to the rank of private first-class in Company C, 3 D En, First Infantry Training, serving until April 15, 1975. He attended Ivy Tech and had almost completed his associate degree. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, music and collecting things. He had worked many years in construction and the past 10 years was a caregiver for ResCare. He was raised at Middlefork Christian Church. He was a member of the Indiana Bow Hunters Association and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

He is survived by his mother of Dupont; two brothers, Gerald Fowler and Donald Fowler, both of Madison; four neices; one nephew; one great-niece; one great-nephew; 11 aunts and uncles; and several cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1993.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Mahoney Cemetery in Milton, Ky. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home at 4:30 p.m. Sunday by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Special Olympics. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear about Chester passing.  I was fortunate enough to see him 2 years ago when I was last in Indiana.  Chester was a distant cousin of mine.  He will be sadly missed.
