SAMUEL'S OBITUARY


Mr. Samuel "Sam" Carroll Hamilton, Jr., age 69 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on October 11, 1953 in Covington, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Samuel Carroll Sr. and Grace Marie Setters Hamilton. His family moved to Jefferson County when he was five years old and he spent the rest of his life in the Madison community. He graduated in 1971 from Madison Consolidated High School where he played baseball and merited membership in the National Honor Society. He was inducted into the Indiana National Guard and served several years receiving the Exceptional Meritorious Service Award and the Indiana Commendation Medal and was honorably discharged. Sam worked several years for Williamson Heater in Madison and then as a contractor with Public Service of Indiana, having worked at Marble Hill as well. He retired from Arvin Sango where he was production manager with 20 years of service. Sam was united in marriage to Abby Janay Sost on September 28, 1991 in Madison, Indiana. Sam was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Madison. Proud of his Kentucky Colonel status bestowed  by Governor Fletcher, Sam loved playing golf, fishing, hunting, reading his Bible, watching the San Francisco 49ers football, following IU basketball, playing baseball, studying genealogy, and witnessing for his Lord and Savior. Sam died on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:33 a.m. at the emergency room at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY
Sam will be missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Abby Janay Sost Hamilton of Madison, Indiana; his sons, Jason Carroll Hamilton and his wife, Lorie of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dereck Lee Hamilton and his wife, Chrissy of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughter, Krystal Hamilton and her companion, Dustin Fresh of Madison, Indiana; his adopted daughter, Rachel Childress and her companion, Dillon Tingle of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Zachary Michael Hamilton, Kenzie Elise Hamilton, Wyatt Robert Hamilton, Hallie Summer Hamilton, and Riley Nickel; his great grandchildren, Elayna Mae Lynn Huttsell and Noble David Hamilton; his step grandchildren, Cammy McCluskey, DJ. McCluskey, Jr., and Darren McCluskey; his brother, John Hamilton and his wife, Tara of Madison, Indiana; his brother in law, Joe Adams of Madison, Indiana; his niece and his nephew, Alicia Monet Pankonie and Brenton Ryan Hamilton; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Carroll Hamilton, Sr., his mother, Grace Marie Setters Hamilton, his infant brother, Charles Edward Hamilton, his grandparents, Russell Carroll and Oneida Hazel Hamilton, and his mother in law, Alpha Christine Williams Sost.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., by Dr. Scott Murphy at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the La Grange Valley of Rest Cemetery near LaGrange, Kentucky.

VISITATION
Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
