After many journeys, I now live and work in Bolinas, CA. I am divorced; the ex lives down the street and our son is 17. This small coastal community is very eclectic and, while rural, San Francisco can be seen from the beach. The town is surrounded by National and State Parks and lies right on the beach. I absolutely love living here. Fortunately, I work at Bolinas Real Estate (www.bolinasrealty.com) as an agent and I also write an ARTS column in the local weekly, The Pt Reyes Light (www.ptreyeslight.com). My background is in Literature, writing, theater, investment, and real estate. I sit on the Board of the Bolinas Museum (www.bolinasmuseum.org) and am a volunteer EMT/Firefighter for the Bolinas Fire Dept. It sounds like all things Bolinas, doesn't it? Well, living here keeps me busy and enriched.

At Health and Safety Day at our Firehouse...I was seen covorting with Smokey the Bear. And even I did not know who got to be Smokey this year...and talk about bear hugs!

In August I went to the Hyde Street Pier where the Maritime Museum is...from the pier I saw a ship like the one that had caused last year's oil spill...oops...

But the old ships spark our imaginations. There is something that calls our sense of adventure and desire for freedom...and yet life on a ship can be less than comfy.

Rigging strung like a harp of the sea. The Balclutha stirs the imagination.

Being an knitter the ropes of ships has always intrigued...while studying knots I found out that old tars would knit and crochet on those long journeys. They made nets, mats, and they even made sweaters, hammocks, socks...using fibers attained from distant ports.

Pumpkin fields of Bolinas. Beyond is the Bolinas Lagoon and Mt. Tam. We call anywhere other than Bolinas "over the hill" which is that hill in the distance.
