Welcome to the Malad High School Class Of 1979 Remember When Forum. Please press "Post Response" to enter your Memories.

I will even start it

I remember going to Hawaii and everyone was so excited about getting that Hawaiian tan. We went to beach the next day and got burned to a crisp. The leaders had to douse us with vinegar to make the sting go away. We thought we could get a tan the same way we did at home with NO sunscreen. The rest of the trip was a little sore to say the least.

I remember pep assemblies, the assemblies where the football players dressed up as girls were the best.

Homecoming and snake dances to the center of town.

I remember English class in high school with Betty ( think that was her name, I just remember sitting in the library) The girls would hum, as soon as Betty figured out who was humming someone else would take it over. She would get so mad at the class and tell them to STOP IT.

OK, these are a few of mine, more later...

Now add yours!!

Today I was saddened to read in the Enteprise that Julie Willie Elmore's husband was killed in an automobile accident on Monday, February 16. It states that donations can be made to Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT 84302 to help the family offset funeral expenses.

Thanks for the comment about Julie's husband.

For those who listen to KODJ 94.1, Malad was the topic of the day. The DJ's were planning a visit to Malad to pick up lottery tickets. Spence Horsley was interviewed on the radio station and they met him the next day. They loved the people of Malad. They loved it so much they're still talking about their visit. Nice job making Malad look so good.

Check out the pics of Malad from 94.1 KODJ http://www.kodj.com/cc-common/gallery/display.html?album_id=166298

I think it was our Junior year, one day at lunch a bunch of girls loaded in Susan Goddard's car.We made a few trips over hootaball hill. The last trip we met a car coming and about went off the edge. The next hour I had seminary,my scriptures were with us and I said that was what saved us. Diane Skidmore reminds me of that often.

One of the things I remember well was E.T.'s (Edith Thomas) constant "hmmmmmmm" at the end of everything she said. That sticks in my mind and makes me smile. I also remember Deon Hanson's sophomore class and being her teacher's aide and speech competitions. I remember Mr. Henry's toupee falling off one day in Junior High with particular fondness (hehehehe).

I would like to extend my condolences to my cousin, Julie and pray for her family.

I'm sorry we won't be able to celebrate with Jeff, Pete, and Peter, but their memory will linger always in my mind of the good times we had at MHS.

I would like to thank Anita and her family for the great time at the last reunion I was able to attend. It was very special for me and to meet everyone there.

I'm trying to find some good prices on flights in for the reunion. With the economic times so uncertain, I'm hoping to find a good fare and be able to come home and celebrate once more!

I would like to extend a special thanks to Evan and Garyn for posting current pics.... and hope others do as well; it really adds to the specialness of this site and excitement building for the reunion!

Sheri... great job in getting things going!

Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts and concerns for julie with the loss of her husband Rod. I will relay your comments to her. She is doing well, her neighbors have been wonderful and her lifelong best friend Leann has been a great support. It was great to see Brad & Wendy at the memorial, I know that it meant a lot to Julie for them to come.

Sheri, I am very impressed with your web site. You've done a great job! Thank you.

Les, I hope you are able to make it again this year, it was great to see you last time. And by the way, that is a great looking dog! What breed is it?

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer, Jay.

Diane, I have to say I remember hoodaball hill also. I thought of it after posting my other messages. That was a scary day, but now I laugh at how naive we were.

Another memory that comes to mind is all the girls in our class sleeping over at Ann Ward's during Christmas time.

Thanks to everyone for adding your own. It's fun to see what others remember and makes me laugh. I also remember Mr. Henrie's toupee. And Mr. Thomas shaking and turning red when he got mad. Nobody dared crack a smile.

Jay, my heart goes out to Julie for her loss.

Thank you so much for your kind words at the loss of my husband. He was a wonderful husband and father. Jacob, the girls and I miss him very much. My Jake is just 12 1/2 and he is a type 1 diabetic so we have a hectic life now that I'm (I hate to say it)a widow.

We have a great support system and we'll somehow make it through just fine.

I look forward to seeing all of you. Leslie, I am looking forward to seeing you the most. I haven't been able to visit with you since high school.

Julie

Bart Fuhriman's mother Rula Thomas died on Friday. Rula had just received the Malad Volunteer of the Year award. When I was typing up the information on her I remembered how Bart would go to the Deep Creek at least once a week and get cinnamon rolls. They were the best. I don't remember what class it was in just that we would talk Bart into it.

Sorry to hear about Rula. Her loss will be felt throughout the community.

Late last night I finally booked my flight home for the reunion, so Idaho, here I come! Sorry, Jay, but Paolo, my pal in the pic, will not be gracing us with his presence and will stay back here to guard the NC Homefront. He is a rescue pup, likely mostly a border collie mix.

Looking fwd to seeing everyone!

I just wanted to tell Sheri, and those who helped her, thanks for all of the hard work to make the reunion a success. It was great to be able to visit with those who were able to attend, and to hear all of the exciting happenings that are taking place in each of your lives.
To those of you who for whatever reason were not able to attend, I wish you the best in your endeavors, what ever they may be, and hope to have the chance to visit with you in person in 5 years.
May God Bless the Class of 79, and may peace and safety be with you till we meet in 5 years.

Thanks,
Brad and Wendy

P.S. Congratulations to Mike Atkinson and Jay Willie for being elected to do the next reunion. Good Luck!!!!

I was just looking at the 30 year reunion photos, but I am sure I must be mistaken, they were pictures of a bunch of old people, are you sure this was not a nursing home activity? Sorry I missed the reunion, I would love to have been able to catch up on things, I look forward to attenting the 35th reunion. Trent

Christine (Mrs. Peter) Thomas

I would like to say thank you for letting me attend your reunion. My 30th was a couple of years ago and I didn't go to it, but I felt I needed to go to Peter's. I enjoyed meeting some of you for the first time and enjoyed seeing those of you that I know again. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk to you about Peter. I have learned to deal with his death, as hard as it may be. I have been asked questions on exactly how he died. On my profile I talk about, exactly what happened. Please feel free to read it mainly because what he died from can happen to any one of us.

Thank you again.
