the dreaded stage set up

the thing i remember most about that last day is that @#$$##@@ stage. ricky chichester, dave aubrey and myself jumped in "old blue "headed to tysons corner to pick it up  in rush hour traffic. we got the the rental place and then the fun began. the guys there kept bringing out part after part till it was up past the cab. that poor truck was earning its money that day. i was scared to death driving through vienna and down rt 66 and then having to deal with route 28 when it was a 2 lane. but we all got back safe and sound, end phase 1 begin phase 2, unloading. unloading that stage was a challange like no other. we did not have a forklift like the rental place, it all had to be unloaded by hand and it weighed a ton. joyce evans headed to drug fair to get first aid supplys that were all used that day, cuts, mashed hands, scrapes, ect. between us we proberly lost 2 pints of blood. phase 2 complete, begin phase 3, set up. the person that wrote the instructions must have never assembled a stage, it was all greek to us. kevin bears finally figured out how things needed to be done and we all followed his lead. then the rental place did not give us enought stuff to get the job done and its about 1  and show time is at 7, six hours to go. we all decided debbie taylor was the best to go because she could , like the song says, "fly like the wind" . i gave her the keys to old blue and said "bring her back  in the one piece" this is now 1;30 time getting close. we could not do anything else so lynn rosenthal and carla lyon went to holly farms to get lunch for all of us. after lunch there were other small things to do so we did them while we waited. about 3 here comes deb flying down euclid  with the  wind at her back and the radio in the truck full blast. we grabbed the stuff we needed and went to work, time ticking fast now. we got finished about 5 30,  a very close shave. we all rushed off to get ready for the big night. all in in all not a bad day togeather. that evening went off as planned with the help of 77 friends.
