RE: graduation night Posted Monday, August 2, 2010 07:09 PM One of my favorite memories was the first Pep Rally. I'm sorry that I don't recall who the other seniors that were left in school that afternoon, I'm sure most of you know why my memories of that year are kind of dim. But I do recall that there were only nine of us attending the Rally as most Seniors had partial schedules wjth Co-op Education and stuff... Before that day I was resentful and maybe even angry about having to go to Manassas Park after three years at SJHS. All my friends were there and having established myself in a certain clique, I was rather worried about the lack of pharmaceuticals and such. But that day at that Pep Rally really changed my thinking about the school and of our being the first class. You'll remember that our class won the "Pep Stick"... with nine people and our sponsor. That's the day that I decided that we could be the ones to determine what the personality, and character of the student body could be. Nine of us beat out the rest of the student body for a dumb prize that I would have rolled my eyes over at Stonewall. I don't think that I ever went to more than one Pep Rally at Stonewall and that occasion was because I missed my ride out and got caught sneaking across the street on foot by Mr. Marsh. I don't know if that is my favorite memory of our Senior year, but it did make an impression on me. |
