Don't stress about the study abroad thing, it will be the best time of her life (so far). My son attended the University of Valencia in Spain during the 2007/2008 academic year. I cried my EYES OUT at the airport...just seeing him go through the security line with his backpack...not all that different from the day we dropped him off for his first day at pre-school! (We couldn't live without him for 8 months so we went to visit at Christmas break.) It's really wonderful she's doing it but there is a real "mourning period" you need to acknowledge in the beginning because it is a loss. Thank God just a temporary one! Congrats!

10/06/09 11:38 PM #1243     Pam Taber Bummed out as I found out today that Maura will remain in the hospital through this weekend as she needs to be on IV antibiotics for the psuedomonas in her sputum/lungs. I have asked her father to come be with her Sat. night and he can't which angers me to no end but I feel strongly that one of us needs to be with her while she is in the hospital. So it looks like I will not make it to any of the reunion activities!! I will look for post-reunion pictures though! Hope that this sight keeps going for sure! She is doing better and eating more each day. She just got some chest PT and was actually smiling when they were doing it! Hmmm someone beating on my chest doesn't sound like fun but apparently it feels pretty good!! Laura it was great talking with you today! Glenn thanks for the text messages and you are right they can't handle the two of us together anyway! Carol thank you for the daily text messages too! Barb you can use my ticket if you crash!! Melissa if you and Tim want to come down here to meet her would love to see you!! Any of you are welcome to come and visit but I realize driving to Boston isn't a picnic!! Thanks for the calls and text messages though they keep me going! I have a homemade apple pie here I could use some help eating that my friend brought to me today! Actually it was my friend Stephen some of you met at "PJ's". He brought my dog, Molly down for me to see and took me out for lunch. Thank God for good friends during times like this just to break up the day.

As I had already guessed, she sounds exactly the same...hysterical and a joy to talk to! (This forum is GREAT free counseling and support, isn't it?!) Pam: Speaking of emotions...your frustration is understandable. Being with Maura on Saturday night is a much bigger gift than being at the reunion (although we are proving to still be fun, aren't we?) You will certainly be there in spirit and we'll be thinking of you!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that our prayers are with you and her at all times. As far as your ticket to the reunion goes...noone can replace you. You will be truly missed. I certainly will take photos if I can actually get there. And if you force me I will have a drink in your honor (and Maura's). Carol, it was great chatting with you. Isn't it funny how you can go for so long without speaking to an old friend but the minute you get on the phone, it's as if no time has passed! You will be missed but thanks to modern technology we will be texting and sending photos all night, so don't plan on getting any sleep. She was actually quite into it and I told her she should take my ticket and go Sat. night. She needs some strong nudges and maybe some phone calls so she can hook up with someone to go to it! Her number is 566-2785 or 668-6699!! I know she perked up when I mentioned you were going Ev so give her a call. I hate to see $50.00 spent for nothing and I think she will enjoy it more than she thinks! Janine I know you were good friends back in high school so maybe you will have some pull too!! Maura is eating better but still oxygen dependent and needs to wean off of her sedation medications. Please pray I am home next week at this time as this is getting old but I am where I need to be!! She is my daughter though as she was wide awake and partying last night until 4:30AM!! Then she slept most of the day away and is now wide awake again!! I am going to be toast if she keeps me up again all night tonight!!! Must say parenting is the toughest job I have ever done!! Keep the phone calls and text messages coming!! I knew I would somehow end up being a "blow-up doll" too!! I am defenseless but truly hope Laura is right with sending me text messages and photos so I can have some fun this weekend!! I know I saw a time and hotel near the airport but darned if I can find it. I'll plan on being a driver and can take at least 3 maybe 4 depending on my husband. Would love to stop in a Laura's first if that is the plan. Donna - do you need me to pick you up on Porter Street or will you meet up with us at the hotel meeting place.
