BARNSVILLE, MN - Services for Brenda J. Kalvoda, 23, Barnsville, formerly of Mandan, ND, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil service at 7:30 at the funeral home. She died May 23, 1991, in a Fargo hospital following an automobile accident. Brenda was born June 29, 1967, in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Emilia "E.C." and Lois (Thompson) Kalvoda. She was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1985. She attended ND State University, graduating in 1989. She was an active member in Future Farmers of America. She served as chapter president in 1984-85, state president in 1985-86, attending leadership conferences in Washington. She attended FFA national conventions in Kansas City, several years as delegate and adviser for her students. Graduating from NDSU in education-agriculture she did student teaching in Mohall, ND. At the time of her death, she was teaching ag economics at Barnsville High School and helping with guidance counseling. She also taught over interactive TV in Barnsville. She also was a Farm House Fraternity Sister. She is survived by her parents, E.C. and Lois Kalvoda, Mandan; her grandparents, Bill and Marie Thompson, Blackwell, OK; 1 brother, Dan Mandan; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-aw, Lisa, Mandan, and Corina and Marc Larson, Lincoln, NE; and many uncles aunts, cousins and special friends. She is preceed in death by her grandparents, John and Marie Kalvoca. A memorial observance will be held at Barnsville High School in the new gym at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.
