I remember when Mr Cruse told me that student government wasn't a popularity contest, but instead was about service and responsibility.  Years later I realized he was not only right but he embodies those traits.  Between he and (Mrs) LG I(our shop teacher) they kept me in check in more ways than they even realized!  they didn't cut me or any of us any slack and that was a blessing.   In their absence I realize more than ever that we owe so many of our successes to them than we ever gave them credit for.  I pray for Marie and the entire Cruse family and all of us who are so much better for having known him!   Eternal rest...lest we ever forget him!

Thank you Mr. Cruse for your passion in making an impact in our lives.  Mr. Cruse was the driving reason I stayed enrolled and graduated from Voc-Tech.  Shortly after class was in session in 1978--my first year in high school--I spent the first 2 week in his office inquiring about transferring to GW. Of course being the mentor he was he asked me, "Now why would I want to do a thing like that?" I didn't have a compelling reason to transfer. Yet for the next 2 weeks I went to see him in his office asking about transferring and no matter how busy he was he always took the time to talk to me.  And his steady message was, "You are at the crossroads in life and the decisions you make now will have an impact in your future."  At the end of 2 weeks I finally understood his mesage and I thank him for not gving up on me.  During the remainder of my sophomore year he'd see me around campus and always asked how I was doing.  Cool beans.  Fast forward to my junior year we received the news Mr. and Mrs. Cruse were relocating back to the mainland.  There was a student assembly at the sports field across the road in front of the campus and our ROTC unit was in formation for a Pass and Review ceremony with Mr. Cruse being the Reviewing Officer.  He trooped the line and although I was not in ROTC that ceremony has been etched in my memory.  God bless Mr. Cruse.

I remember Mr. Cruse always taking time to talk to us students.  His passion for our success was in his heart. He never gave up on us and knew that one day, we will all succeed in life.  He was an unselfish person who motivated us by his encouraging words. I remember him telling me....'don't ever give up because whatever challenges you face it will only make you a stronger individual.'

Marie, please know that our prayers are with you and your family.  You take care and be strong just like your father.  He was a great inspiration and caring person.

Peace and Love always....

It is so comforting and heartwarming to read the kind words and sympathies extended to my family on the loss of our dear father.  It is very diffiuclt right now, especially watching my mother grieve for the man she spent 53 years with.  We look back on our wonderful memories to keep us strong and with the support of our family and friends, we will make it through and continue to be strong. I miss my father each and every day and still cannot believe he is gone, but we know that he is with the Lord and no longer in pain.  I want all of you to know that our times on Guam are still the best memories we have and hope one day to return to the island and people we love.

DANKULU SI YU'OS MA'ASE!

Thank you so much Eddie for the kind words. He loved his students so much and took great pride in the fact that he was part of your lives, even if for only a little while. Best to you and your family. (Marie)
