I don't have much details about Lorin's death. But I had read about it in the Star Tribune. It was 08/06/1996 and he was killed in a motorcycle accident.

The only details I remember is that he was turning on a overpass and his motorcycle crashed and he was hit by another car.

I think it’s almost ironic that I’m writing an “in memory” piece for Lorin. Especially with the tumultuous relationship I had with him while in high school.

Those who knew Lorin, knew that he was a caring and kindhearted person at heart, and that although there were times when he appeared to have quite a bit of adversity with others, specifically with me, he was always approachable and ultimately, easy to talk with.

Lorin died at a young age, and as a result he was never able to experience adulthood, nor what the satisfaction of having such things as longevity in employment, a long term romantic relationship, or children. I know that he was married when he passed away, so maybe he was able to, for a brief moment, experience a happiness everyone strives for; true love.

I’m not sure what his mode of thought, or psyche was before he left us, but I hope he found some semblance of peace to compensate for some of the less than happy years he had at West high.

It appears that he enjoyed riding his bike. Me, being an avid biker can’t help but think that in his riding he found some type of liberation.

I, along with many of us, I know, wish we could have had the opportunity at this reunion to make amends with Lorin. So, in essence, let this “in memory” piece be mine and everyone else’s attempt to make amends with Lorin.
