My daughter Michele just recently found out she is in stage 4 renal failure.  I just brought her back from a kidney biopsy.  We hope those results will give us some idea of what is causing this.  I ask that you keep her in your prayers.

Diane Walker called me today to share some news that she said she did not know how to share.  She asked me to share with her “classmates from MCHS” that have become more like family as the years have gone by.

Diane has been treated for MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome-similar to leukemia) for years. She’s
been going to chemotherapy weekly, but this week her Dr. told her she should get her affairs in order in the next few weeks because her body is wearing out.

She doesn’t want a funeral, she and her husband (at 84 years old) didn’t have one for either of her two sons who passed.  She will be surrounded now by her 2 sons and 2 daughters, all the families, all the grandchildren and great grandchildren who live close.

So she told her family, but wanted me to tell her “MCHS family” also.  She feels strongly that through the years we have gotten much closer than we ever were in high school. 

Since there will be no funeral service, she asked me to publish her address and phone number on our class creator website so that anyone who wanted to reach out to talk or send a card, flowers or any thing that you would normally do for a funeral, could do it now, for her and her family to share.  It would mean a lot to her.

As she told me she is ready for this “next journey”.  She is not sad, but she sounded very much at peace with whatever is coming and however much time she has left. I think it’s beautiful that she cares enough about all of us to reach out instead of letting us be shocked after the fact. She is ready to meet her Maker.
