In Memory

Jeanne M. Granger

Jeanne Granger, age 70, of Marion passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Jeanne was born, an identical twin with Jan Granger, on September 11, 1947 to the late Carl and Betty (Knappenberger) Granger in Marion.  Jeanne grew up on various farms in Marion County, and then moved to S. Greenwood Street at the age of 11, where her mother had a dance studio from 1959 to 1963. She graduated from Marion Catholic High School in 1965, and married David Washburn in 1966. Jeanne was employed at Gen Tel Co of Ohio, then Whirlpool Corporation as Human Resource Assistant where she retired after 29 years.

Jeanne enjoyed being outdoors and believed by listening to the trees and animals you could learn just about anything. Her hobbies were feeding the birds and squirrels, ballroom dancing, playing classical piano, reading, and senior choir. The loves of her life were her two daughters Cari and Aleece, and she regarded her two grandsons Owen and Will as “the sunshine of her life”.

Jeanne will be deeply missed by daughters, Aleece (Rian) Jester of Delaware and Cari Washburn of Cleveland; grandchildren, Owen and William Jester; siblings, Jim, Jan, Sue, Chris (Bev), and Mike (Kathy) Granger; along with countless nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by former husband, George David Washburn.

In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in Jeanne’s honor.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 4 until 6 pm at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 E. Center St., Marion.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Marion are honored to serve Jeanne’s family.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.

When I read about the loss of another classmate, it is becoming clearer what a unique gift (both her and other classmates who have passed on) she (and they) were.  Rest in peace, Jeannie!

Kind regards,

Jim Nicolosi
