1947 - 2008
Samuel A. Tucker, 60, of Port Orange entered into Eternal Life at 6:46 p.m. Monday June 30, 2008, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 5th, at Covenant United Methodist Church in Port Orange. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 4th, at the Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange.
Sam was born October 24, 1947, in Stanford, Kentucky, the son of John Andrew and Libby (Hoeck) Tucker. He was united in marriage to Ann Marie Seitz in 1970.
Sam attended school in Marion, Ohio, and graduated from Shelby Senior High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969. He earned his Private and Commercial pilot's license and gave private Insturument flying lessons, including ground instruction. He worked for over 20 years at Autocall in Shelby, Ohio, and since moving to Florida has worked for 12 years at WSA Systems in Daytona Beach.
Sam was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Port Orange, where he taught Sunday school and Bible Study for 10 years. He was a past member and deacon of the Worldwide Church of God in Mansfield, Ohio. He was also a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, The National Electrical Contractors Association, the National Fire Protection Association and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include: Ann, his loving wife of 37 years; Son: Jim (wife Karen) Tucker of Port Orange; daughters: Jill (Husband Ron) Kolman of West Salem, Ohio, Julie (husband Shawn) LaDouceur of Port Orange, Sara (husband Lee) Mchatton of Chico, California: grandchildren: Tucker and Dallas McHatton; mother: Libby Tucker of Shelby, Ohio; sisters: Linda (husband Mark) Whitman and Regina Travis both of Hilliard, Ohio; and five nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tucker, and a great-nephew, Ryan Stanley.
Samuel was know as a wonderful gardener and photographer, and for his great sense of humor. He deeply loved his family and his God. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sam's family to help with medical and burial expenses.
