Has it really been 50 years? Here are the highlights. I am still in Marshalltown in spite of my best efforts to live where it doesn't snow in the winter. Along the way I moved to Rogers, Arkansas for 7 years and to Littleton, Colorado for 7 years but came back here to take care of my parents as they aged and needed me. All of my children have moved to warmer climates and I planned to move last year also but then I met a lot of beautiful Spanish people who became my family here.
As most of you know, all my life I have been one of Jehovah's Witnesses sharing with others the importance of the Bible in our times. Last year I joined the Spanish congregation to help the ever growing group of Mexican people in our area. This involves my learning Spanish and after 10 months I am beginning to understand and speak a little of the language. I thought it would be a good way to keep my brain young. In the process, the new Spanish friends have become a real family to me. They are a blessing beyond compare. I have been sledding down that big hill at Lennihan, fishing and swimming with them this summer. Their children are my grandchildren and their homes are mine and vice versa. Life is definitely not dull. Who knew retirement could be so much fun.
I have lots of flowers and a big vegetable garden the produce of which I share with others.
Life is good and I am happy. I hope you all are the same.
