So sorry to hear of Joan's passing.  We have now lost both Joan, and her twin brother Gene Davenport from the class of  "60", so sad.

Joan was my best friend in High School.  We kept in touch through the years, and every time we got together, it was as if no time had passed, and we were buddies again.

The Davenports lived next door to us on Second Avenue when Joan, Gene, and I were toddlers.  We didn't know each other then, since we lived there for only about a year and a half; however, Joan and I were in the same shorthand class in high school, and we've been friends on Facebook for quite some time. It seems just the other day that she made a comment on something I posted.  I was looking forward to seeing her and talking with her at the reunion this fall (if I get there), so I was truly sad to hear of her passing.

I was sorry to hear of Joan passing away.  She took time to tutor me in math and I'm not Suprised that she was a great teacher.  Wished that we would meet at the next class reunion.

There were several of we Aaron Palmer elementary students who moved out of the district when the west end of Marshalltown was being developed and went to Franklin school. The Davenports were one of the familys.  Gene, Joan, Bob Johannsen, Don Alexader and myself all classmates lived close in the neighborhood.  MANY good times playing were had. I was devastated hearing Gene was electricuted the summer after graduation.  He was the first deceased in our class. 60 years later his twin,Joan, making 112 deceased for our class, that I'm aware of.  It was good to see her at a gals luncheon last fall before they headed south. Most of us attending the luncheon were in lower elementary at Aaron Palmer.  Our conversations were full of fun, laughter, and GREAT memories.  Goodbye, longtime friend, Joan.
