Quick note.
Teri, Zeno's is still good, hasn't got any cheaper!!!
Jay, Maid-Rite is still as good as you remember. Now Beaner's, I think it changed names a while back but about this time last year one of our 'seasoned drivers' did a little interior decorating when she parked her Mercury Mountaineer 3/4's of the way in thru the east wall. Kinda over shot the corner I guess. Not sure if they are still open but ya might be a little careful where ya sit if they are.

Hey Kari:

I'm looking for '78 and '79 yearbooks too.

02/17/09 03:21 PM #28

Marie Maertens

At this time, I can't locate my '79 yearbook, but have a '78 if we need it. Also, found some incriminating photos over the weekend of several friends at the State Wrestling Meet, parties, my graduation party, etc. (I'll be sure to bring to the reunion to share - hopefully you will too.) They brought back some really fun memories and I'm happy to have survived it all!

Senior pictures from the 79 year book can be fond at the following website:

Hey John and everyone the yearbook is now on our website so you can scan through it, someone was able to reduce it and we were able to put it on the site. The site will be shut down on March 1st for needed repairs and updating, they inform us it will be better when they are done with it. So on Sunday we will not have access to it at all.

Ok Monahan, you asked for some stories, well I might have one or three ;) These are just stories mind you :)

How about trips M'town to downtown Newton in under 19 minutes aboard the Mercury Express? (what was that? Oh... nevermind it was just Laurel.....)

Heading back from Newton topping the big hill just before the Baxter corner somewhere *well* North of 120mph and having a passenger yell "HOGS!!!!!" and seeing a fleeting glimpse of 8-10 hogs in the middle of the road.. (think it took a week to get the seatcover outta the `ol butt but we made the corner ^5 )

Road trips to Newton and having to slow down so that POS Buick GS with the 456 rear end could keep up with the rest of us ! I think a certain Buick Riveria was in many of those processions too but it kept up pretty well :)

Sr Skip Day and the roadtrip to Le Grande, and flying back with a flat rear tire.... Then paying homage to it in front of Heinrich's house with his "in the right place at the wrong time" neighbor out mowing....

Sat nights in Helfer's Parking lot with a B/W TV and cases of Miller's

Hot Laps at Timmon's Grove International Speedway......

~2 minute keg races along the tracks between Albion and Liscomb.. the beer sure was good, thanks again :) (But that put the `ol Merc in intensive care)

Dropping a drive shaft along State St trying to get the front end off the ground to impress the Wimmins ;)

Scooping the loop on your bike while you jacked my Merc around

Officer O.W. "Buck" Manship...... lol

"Strip and Go Naked" parties at Timmon's Grove 55 gallon barrels have never been so fun

Every weekend was an adventure... and do not tell my kids ! (oops, that is right, this is just stories, pure fiction)

and now we have to wear seatbelts..Geeesh....

Mike

Today my wife tells me about this website, and we load pictures etc. Now, within 12 hours of getting involved I'm thinking about deleting everything..... I've received 3 messages that Fogarty (and others) are known for checking out all the females, spouses, and daughters. What the hell? I sit here amazed at what has become of some people I thought I knew well... ;)

I just spent a lovely warm sunny week in Tucson. Most of my family lives down there now. What I want to know is why do we (those of us who are still here) live in the midwest.

Danielle Bryant Dilks wants to know.

What do you remember about your instructors by the way? Who was the most bizarre and why?

Jon Kriegel

Leslie Graham (trig/anal.geom) gets my vote. He was actually a pretty hilarious old dude, but very bizarre and ecentric with his mannerisms, sayings ("...mathematicians, being a lazy lot, take this shortcut..."), and massive collection of seasonal bow-ties. There's probably a reason why they isolated him out there in those not-so temporary expansion out-buildings.

Here's a list to ponder. Maybe some of you out there would care to submit your lists also...

Q: What are the top 10 bands you listened to most often in high school (on vinyl or 8-track tape, not radio, and not who you perceive is the "best", but rather who you personally listened to the most) ?

JK says:

1. Foghat
2. Kiss
3. Van Halen
4. Aerosmith
5. Boz Scaggs
6. Styx
7. Earth, Wind, and Fire
8. Boston
9. Steve Miller Band
10. B.T.O.
(honorable mentions: Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, April Wine, 38 Special, Ted Nugent, and of course, the Bee Gees)

04/10/09 02:49 PM #44

Doug Monahan

1. Boston
2. Kiss (your fault Jon!)
3. Styx
4. Foreigner
5. ELO
6. Head East
7. Fleetwood Mac
8. Cheap Trick
9. Queen
10. Steve Miller Band

Anyone remember that killer concert at the roundhouse...might have been our Junior year...starring Starbuck and their hit "Moonlight Feels Right"...lol.
