Stephanie Martin (Elliott) VIEW PROFILE

Stephanie Lyn Elliott, beloved wife, mom, ‘Nanny’, daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend to many, passed from her earthly life on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, resulting from an auto accident. Her family is comforted in the knowledge that she now resides with Jesus. She was the oldest of three children born to Michael Scott and Pamela Kay (Crane) Martin. Stephanie was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on May 20, 1970.

She was a lifelong Martinsville resident and proudly served her community in her career and volunteering her time and expertise in various philanthropic, political and local charities and organizations. Stephanie was a 1988 graduate of Martinsville High School and continued her education at Ball State University and Indiana University. At the age of 20, she married the love of her life, John E. Elliott, on June 9, 1990. They had three children and enjoyed over 32 years of marriage. The two enjoyed attending Colts and IU games, riding side-by-sides, camping, vacationing, boating with friends, and spoiling their grandchildren. Above all, Stephanie cherished time with her family and rarely, if ever, missed an opportunity to cheer on her children and grandchildren in their sporting or extracurricular activities.

Throughout the years, Stephanie worked as a customer service representative, helped run a family daycare business, and assisted her husband in the family business, Elliott Electric. Of all her jobs, she was most proud of her current position serving as the Morgan County Clerk. She started her career in the Clerk’s office in February of 2009 and in November of 2012, she became the interim Clerk, replacing Peggy Mayfield, State Representative. She was elected to her first full term as County Clerk in November 2014 and re-elected in November 2018. As County Clerk, Stephanie also served on the Morgan County Election Board. She was also a member of the Morgan County Fair Board and Fall Foliage Festival Board, as well as a member of Faith Church in Martinsville. She had recently won the Republican nomination for Morgan County Auditor for the upcoming November General Election, as well as Republican State Delegate.

Stephanie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her contagious laugh, bright smile, kind and gentle soul, determined and resilient personality are just a few of the extraordinary qualities she possessed.

Her death has left so many broken hearted including her husband, John Elliott of Martinsville; sons, Ben (wife, Katie) Elliott of Martinsville and Spencer Elliott (fiancée, Madelyn Wilson) of Martinsville; daughter, Annah Elliott of Martinsville; grandchildren, Jasper, Harper and Bennett; parents, Mike & Pam Martin of Martinsville; sister, Kera Martin of Greenwood; brother, Mike (wife, Jill) Martin of Martinsville; paternal grandfather, Joe Martin of Martinsville; in-laws, Pete and Mickey Elliott of Martinsville; brothers-in-law, Mike (wife, Minette) Elliott of Monrovia and Randy (wife, Carmen) Elliott of Martinsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clifford and Agnes “Peg” Crane and paternal grandmother, Janis Martin.
