Darrin Hill Maxwell’s parents were elated when he was born December 29, 1969. His father, Ronald Lloyd Maxwell, and his mother, Patsy (Hill) Maxwell welcomed Darrin into a large extended family where he was the first grandchild. Darrin was joined a few years later by younger brothers Steven Todd Maxwell and Matthew Lloyd Maxwell (Jennifer Lynn).

Darrin lived in Martinsville Indiana his entire life. Family and friends were always important to Darrin. Uncle D’s greatest joy was spending time with his beloved nieces and nephews, including Logan Michael Nicholas Maxwell, Jonathan Scott Maxwell, Kaylynn Marie Maxwell and Lizabeth Ann Maxwell.

But his most important relationship was with Jesus. Darrin asked the Savior to be in his life at a young age, and he was a member of the Hoosier Harvest Church. He was active in the Hoosier Hills Emmaus group and Kairos Prison Ministry. Darrin was a glass half empty kind of guy — because he poured himself out on others.

Darrin was proud of his hometown, and he ran for Mayor. He worked at American Red Cross Disaster Services, Rural Metro Ambulance, and was Director of Morgan County Emergency Management. Darrin kept a cool head during most situations, from surviving hundred-year floods to gutting and rehabbing a historic family home.

When a heavenly choir sang “I Can Only Imagine” and welcomed Darrin into heaven on May 29, 2020, he was no doubt warmly embraced by his mother, grandparents, family and friends. Darrin left his earthly body but is experiencing eternal life.

In addition to his father, survivors include his stepmother, Bette Lou Maxwell, and many family and friends.

A celebration of Darrin’s life will be held July 1st at Hoosier Harvest Church between 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Hoosier Hills Emmaus, c/o Aaron Johnson, 3484 North County Road 300 East, Orleans, Indiana 47452.
