MARTINSVILLE — Michael D. Pence, 39, of Martinsville, died Sunday in Martinsville.

Born Jan. 7, 1970, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Woodrow and Anna J. (Quakenbush) Pence.

He married Dawn M. Zimmerman May 1, 1993, and she survives.

Mike was a 1988 graduate of Martinsville High School and was currently taking classes at the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo., working toward a Pastoral Degree. He was the third shift maintenance supervisor at Cook Pharmica in Bloomington. Mike was the youth director at Valley Mission Church of The Nazarene in Bedford and a member of the Morgan County Conservation Club.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn M. (Zimmerman) Pence of Martinsville; two sons, Michael K. “Mickey” Pence and Dylan L. Pence, both of Martinsville; his father, Woodrow Pence of Martinsville; his mother, Anna J. (Quakenbush) Pence of Martinsville; and one brother, Keith Alan Pence of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his son, Devin C. Pence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville with the Rev. Duane Brown officiating. There will be a military service after the funeral. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pence Family Trust, c/o Valley Mission Church of The Nazarene, 110 Hillcrest Way, Bedford, IN 47421.

MARTINSVILLE — Devin C. Pence, 9, of Martinsville, died Sunday in Martinsville.

Born Oct. 4, 1999, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Michael D. and Dawn M. (Zimmerman) Pence.

Devin was a third grade student at Valley Mission Church of The Nazarene in Bedford. His dream was to become a preacher. He loved to sing and dance in church. He also enjoyed playing Wii alot!

Survivors include his mother, Dawn M. (Zimmerman) Pence of Martinsville; two brothers, Michael K. “Mickey” Pence and Dylan L. Pence, both of Martinsville; his grandparents, Woodrow and Anna J. (Quakenbush) Pence of Martinsville, and Mark and June (Wright) Zimmerman of Paragon; and his uncle, Keith Alan Pence of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael D. Pence.

Mike Pence and his son Devin were killed in an accident on the way home from church this afternoon. Please keep his wife, Dawn, and their other two boys and all the family in your prayers. They have suffered greatly and there is much grieving yet to be done.

The viewing will be on Wednesday 4-8pm at Costin Funeral Chapel on E. Washington Street in Martinsville.  The funeral is Thursday at 11am.

Traci Wilson Walker:: Dear Mike, I wish I had taken time to reconnect. Isn't that the way it is with people sometimes though? What a legacy you have left for those you touched. I know you are walking with Jesus with your son and have gained the ultimate prize. To your wife and older sons, you are in the prayers of many and the grace and peace of our Lord is surrounding you.

 

 

Tim Dwyer:: Mike I only knew you for a short time but I came to know and love you. I miss you but I know you and Devin are in a great place and are much happier. Im really going to miss your messages on Wednesday nights. Peace brother

 

Stephanie Priest Hubbard:: I am sure you are dancing on the streats that are golden! Enjoy your heavenly home!!!! You will be missed dearly, and I will miss talking swimming with you in your Mom and Dad's pool!!!!

You always told me that God made us especially for each other....I will never believe anything different. Keep HaDeeBurr giggling the way only you could do. I can still hear you "diggin' into the floor" as he cackled~! Thank you for choosing me to share your whole life with. Thank you for the legacy that will forever live in your boys left with me. I hope to do you proud! I love you and I always, always will!

I am still in shock to learn the news about the passing of Mike and his son. This saddens me greatly. I have child hood memories of Mike. He was a great guy. He and his son will be greatly missed by all. My prayers go out to the Pence family. I'm sure Mike and his son were called home to do great works in Heaven. May God Bless,comfort and guide the Pence family.
