Connie Maynard died in 1991. She transferred to Center Grove after our Sophomore year. She was in a car accident with a semi while traveling with to Kentucky with some of her sorority sisters at Ball State University.
I moved to Martinsville the summer before our sophomore year. Connie was the first friend I made. She went out of her way to introduce herself that summer. She and I lifeguarded together at a lake my family owned. She was a good friend. Going to her funeral was so tough, even though we were in college and hadn't seen each other in awhile, it was just so wrong to see someone so young pass away so young. Thinking about it still brings those emotions back. Connie came from a great family, I still see her folks sometimes. Her younger sister's daughter took dance class with my daughter, so it was neat to bump into them during those times. Connie ended up graduating from Center Grove High School and went on to Ball State. She was such a fun girl, sometimes a party girl, but she had such a big heart for her friends. She would do anything for her friends!
