Ricky Snowden VIEW PROFILE

Lifelong Martinsville resident, Ricky Joe Snowden, age 53, died unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, June 2nd, 2023. He was born on Tuesday, August 26th, 1969, in Martinsville, Indiana, to Jack and Margaret (Carpenter) Snowden.

Ricky graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1988. Shortly following graduation, he enlisted in the Indiana National Guard. He had been employed by Ambassador Steel Corporation in Mooresville for seventeen years before health complications forced him to take medical retirement.

At a young age, Ricky discovered a love for boxing. He was a devoted and accomplished boxer, winning several titles spanning over thirty-two years. In 1983, he won the “Silver Gloves” title for his weight class and advanced to the National Silver Gloves competition. He also loved to fish, mushroom hunt and spend time with his family. His most cherished memories were made with his seven grandchildren.

His untimely and unexpected passing has left his family and friends heartbroken including his mother, Margaret Snowden; son, Matthew (wife, Michelle) Snowden of Bainbridge, IN; daughter, Ashley (husband, Jay) Edwards of North Carolina; four brothers, Jerry (wife, Melissa) Blondell, Terry (wife, Cassie) Blondell, Berry (wife, Bobbi) Snowden and Tim (wife, Rachel) Snowden al of Martinsville; two sisters, Rita Massey of Martinsville and Gina (husband, Tim) Woodard of Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Isaiah, Korbin, Ricky, Jake, Elijah, Jeremiah and Obadiah.

Along with his father, Jack Snowden, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ken Massey.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 9th, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center. A service celebrating Ricky’s life will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
