Do you remember the big sign at the post office in Marysville? "Uncle Sam needs you... Finish high school in the US NAVY" They even promised I could return to graduate with my class. In 1959 it looked a good choice. What they forgot to tell me.You'll receive a GED for your studies here and it's hard to hitch hike from Japan to Marysville for graduation in 1960. Thank you for allowing my wife and I to attend this years reunion. Was discharged from the Navy in 1963 and stayed in southern California a couple years. Left for Oregon July 5th 1965. Graduated from Eugene Bible College and pastored my first church in Lagrande, Oregon begining in 1968... Moved to Coburg, Oregon In 1970 where I pastored until moving to Tacoma, Washington in 1974 where again I pastored a church and attended Northwest College, graduating in 1976. Very soon it was a return to Coburg, Oregon to pastor the little church I loved so much. One of the highlights of this place was building a new church with no money... It's true. It took four years to complete (1981 to 1985) and there were no outstanding bills. With 35 members to start this program we can only declare... miracle. In 1989 I moved to nearby Cottage Grove where I pastored another church through 1996. Shortly after this I experienced a terrible divorce (none are nice) and decided not to pastor again... however I still speak for special meetings. The courts awarded me our children so I could keep them in school. They attended a Japanese Immersion School in Eugene where they learned to read, write and speak Japanese... Melanie seems to have made herself a professional student... still attending San Francisco State, studies asian finance and language. I spent 20 years working as a funeral director in the Eugene area. My wife Dorothy is a lady I met in southern Callifornia in 1963. She was the junior girl teacher and I the junior boy teacher at our church sunday school. We discovered each other both living single in Oregon in february 2006. By July 15, 2006 we were married. We spent our first three years in our motorhome discovering family all over America. Our families were married to each other in Moss, Tennessee in the 1700's. Both of us had family members die in the Alamo. Interestingly she was from the famous McCoy family and worked for the Hatfield family in Oregon... they have signed a peace pac for the family up here. See you in september... hey we could write a song.....

School Story:

If the Statler Brothers should write a song for the class of 1960... What would Dewey remember? Bobbie Freeman at the school assembly... Do you wanna dance? Dancing at the Huddle... Oh' Mister Lee? Sitting on the front lawn wondering, who is this Governor Wallace in Alabama... Is Alabama a part of the United States of America? One of our classmates explaines, Momma said it's true, thats why we moved to California. Were you pleased when James Merideth was admitted to that university? Oh what embarrassment, my younger brother stole the red 53 ford convertable off the parking lot... a two day joy ride into the mountains with his friends. Did'nt they know it would run out of gas? Who is this Castro anyhow? Why should I care about Cuba? I never knew why so I'll ask, Dewey remember why the Hamburger Wagon had to leave the location in front of the school? Now here's a good one... Dewey remember that silly guy who brought the big truck to our science building... He showed us those batteries and said they would charge from sun exposure... Didwe believe in solar power? Didwe, what happened to Dewey? OK, now Dewey remember that same guy showed us a phone with no wires and said "someday you'll carry a phone in your pocket at all times"? Silly man. Another question, Dewey remember those Levis', They are new and worn so long that they will stand alone in the corner alone...Mom if you wash them I won't wear them again... and it's to much trouble taking the belt loops off another pair. Dewey remember that 50 cents would buy a shake, fries and coke at the Fosters Freeze? There are many more things that Dewey can remember for us... However there are some I hope he forgets.
