 Gregory L. Cannon, age 46, of Rockford, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, at UT Medical Center. He attended Rockford Baptist Church. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1981, and played in many athletics. Preceded in death by father, William Cannon. Survivors include wife, Linda Cannon; son, Joshua Cannon; mother, Marilyn Cannon; stepsons, Brian and Kevin Adams; brother, Carl Cannon; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Jeff Price; several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Rockford Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Kimsey officiating. I first met Greg at John Sevier Elementary School. He was a good friend then. I wasn't as close with him in later school years, but he was always very sweet to me. When I think of Greg I smile. After going to the Church to pay my respects along with Lisa and Connie, it was overwhelmingly apparent, from looking at all the photographs that documented his life since high school and seeing the people there, that he had a beautiful family and that they loved him very much... and that he left them too soon.Dena

Like Dena, I first met Greg at John Sevier Elementary. We would always get to school early and stay late. Not to study, but to play kickball or baseball. He was always fun to be around. He turned 16 before I did, so he would drive me and Terri Spangler to Knoxville all the time. We had a lot of fun and shared a lot of laughs together. I really enjoyed looking at all of the pictures of Greg and his family at the memorial service. It was evident that he was loved very much and he was very proud of his family.
