Jane - hey girl! I sent you a msg. on your profile email....

Gary Marshall

Well, I have to say that all the talk of the reunion makes me a bit envious. I am truly happy for all of you, though.

Re: classmate deaths. Pam Maranville may have been the first of our class to die, & I am not comfortable saying more. Barbie Mitchell/McClure/Killabrew died from cancer when she was 42. She had a military career and was a paralegal. She & her husband Russ had two young daughters at the time of her death. If memory serves, they were living out west, perhaps Texas.

Jane -- for goodness sakes, I am pretty sure we were in 1st grade together...I never thought of you as shy, my friend.

Linda Braden (Albert)

Gary, I sure missed seeing you and your lovely wife at the reunion. We really did have a blast.

Sandy, I'll print a copy of the photo and number everyone's heads. That's Lisa Wilson right behind Mr. Davis, and Susan Price is right above my head.

Have fun at Applebee's tonight. I'd join you, but I need to get home a little earlier to do some stuff. By the way, what is a cougar?

09/05/08 04:23 PM #163

Diane Welch (Welch)

Linda- a cougar is a women (usually in 40s or 50s) who date younger men. So, come on and join the den ( I am not sure what the name is for more than one cougar) and join the fun. Several of us are on the prowl again......

Linda: You know the rich sugar daddies who go around in the company of hot young ladies? Well... a cougar is the female version. See Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.

Roger, you have the rich part all wrong, sugar mamma, maybe. Right Deb

Hello gang, good lord of mercy... I have been sick since Saturday night so if any of your get a virus that last about 4 to 5 days and consists of coughing, stuffy noise, I guess you will never forget me. Even though myself and my husband didn't get to stay as long as we would have like we had a great time. My husband is acting Capt for the T.H.P. and he was incharge of all the, excuse me cough cough, people from Louisiana. Most ungrateful bunch I have ever seen. But they all can't be like us Tennessee Volunteers. I loved seeing that we are all growing old graciously. I did I read something about getting to gather to EAT. Well you all know by looking at me I don't miss to many meals so let me know when and where. About this cruise, LETS GO!!! About Bobby and a black dress, where Bobby you might be taller than I but by gosh you could wear one of my black dresses just a little short. I might even have a bikini you could wear. Picture that!!! If there is someone you would like for me to look up and you know their last name if they are female I can find out their address if they still live in Tennessee. Didn't mean to write a novel, but you all are ahead of me. P.S. Linda Cook hasn't changed a bit always the mother hen.

Diane Welch (Welch)

At this point I am getting a table for three until I hear from anyone before 6:45. See you there

Sandy Smith (Dockery)

Thanks Linda Braden. You have spent so much time on the photo's. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Next time I will just have to come to Reunion so I can identify people myself. I wish everyone had stayed for photo. (Traci Lobetti has a good excuse)

09/05/08 08:29 PM #173

Linda Braden (Albert)

Thanks to everyone who set me straight on what a cougar is. I sure as heck ain't in that bunch. Leave the little twits (such as Ashton Kutcher) to the women who can stand 'em, I don't even change my granddaughter's diapers.

Sandy, I enjoy taking pictures and I'm just glad I can share them with everyone who wants copies.

Traci, we lived in Louisiana for the longest 15 months of my life. I was never so glad to shake the dust of a place off my feet. One of the ungrateful guests here was on TV the other night complaining about the (free) food and (free) accommodations, and my son called him everything but a human then made some suggestions about what they could do the next time they needed help. I know not everybody is like that guy but they certainly do give the decent people a bad name.

Gary M,
I meant to write you back earlier, but couldn't at the time. You're right, we did go to school together for 12 years! There are several of us that did. Do you remember square dancing together in the third grade? I also remember hitting some little boy over the head with my batton at recess. Our teacher, Mrs. Driscoll, took me in to the room and I think she did give me a little whipping. She then gave me a piece of bubble gum back at her desk. I just remember bits and pieces of each year, well most years.

Hope to see you all too some time later....

Jane L. Gracia

Hey everyone! Traci...glad to see ya back girl! Hope that danged old cold is getting better!! We had a great time tonight at Applebees...we learned that Jane knows how to tell us...well "show" us all how to be quiet, and Diane likes money. Lots of it. :-) Oh, and Jonathan...well, we tried really really hard to learn the "man secrets" but he just wouldn't give them up! Anyway, we are planning another get together..we are thinking about the last saturday night of September...the Vols play away, but we don't know what time they play yet. Now, everyone has 3 weeks to plan for this....so c'mon! Bring your appetite, your stories, your kitchen sink, whatever you want to bring. Isn't this site just fun??

Sandy Whaley (Baker)

Hi everyone,

I am weathering out Hurricane Hana today. We are expecting wind gusts up to 60 mph with some flooding. Not going to be as bad as Isabelle back in 2003. Hopefully, we will keep power today! Keep your fingers crossed that this storm moves quickly up the coast and out to sea.

Wish I could have been there to go out to dinner. Maybe by next spring 2009! Moving back to Tennessee has been something I have always wanted. I have a lot of family support there and after the reunion, I realize I could have a lot of support from some old friends! Thanks for giving me that feeling. You all ROCK! Bobby, don't let them trick you into a bikini! Stay with the black dress!

Diane Welch (Welch)

My daughter Shanna (pregnant) is in Durham North Carolina and they are expecting wind gusts up to 65 and possibly 7 inches of rain by 8:30 this morning. Have not heard from her yet.... Will be praying for both of you.

We would have loved to have you with us last night. Lots of fun and laughs. I think our waiter was getty pretty annoyed with us.

09/06/08 10:21 AM #178

Kathy Phillips (McBride)

Sounds like I missed a great time last night! I just love an annoyed waiter, like a cat with a cricket to harass.

I got to spend my evening trying to keep a lab on pain meds calm. I think he would be a downer freak if he were human. He was having a good time.

I think I have a birthday party to attend on that last Saturday in September. Not sure if it is an afternoon or evening party though.

Pat Wheeler (Poole)

Jane, YOU hit a boy over the head ... luckily the board of education was in place to beat the violence out of you .... otherwise I'm sure you would have been a serial killer psychopath ...

re annoyed waiter at Applebys...I'm glad to know that this generation's right to irritate the younger one is still present...we've paid our dues!!!! wish I could have been there to add to the confusion--I mean fun

09/06/08 12:36 PM #180

Susan Jane Loftis (Gracia)

Pat,
The thing is that I don't remember who I hit and what for. If anybody in my first grade class remembers, please let me know. I must have blocked it out because it was so traumatic! I do remember that I didn't ever do it again. I know if I received treatment at school, I was sure to receive treatment at home as well!!

Yes, we really did have a great time last night. Diane, Deb, and Jonathan all looked great! They looked the same to me. Maybe a hair cut or two. I also met Diane's son and he's very good looking! Just like his Mom and very nice.

I can't wait to get together again! Hope even more people can join us.

Jane

Okay, if we are going to fess up what we did in grade school..i.e. Jane whopping someone with a baton (you go girl), then I will have to tell my most guarded grade school secret..ha! Anyone who went to Eagleton grade school remember 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Chambers? Well we didn't have desks...we had tables & chairs. Robbie Roberson (I think he is/was an Alcoa Policeman...uh oh) sat right beside me...now remember this was 2nd grade! I didnt like him, for whatever reason a 7 year old doesn't like someone. So, when he started to sit down, I held a sharp pencil straight up in his chair, and he sat down on it...it went right in his little butt, and I think he had to have it removed...don't remember that part real well. Anyway, how mean!! :-) My mother came to the school & "made" Mrs. Chambers paddle me in front of her. Then, when I got home, I got it again of course. I promise I'm not mean...haha. I have never forgotten that! Hey Diane & Jane...at least it wasn't Jerry, right?

09/06/08 05:56 PM #182

Susan Jane Loftis (Gracia)

Right Debbie, at least it wasn't Jerry! Boy, we were kind of mean (a little). I don't remember much. I don't think he was hurt bad or anything. Did Robbie have to go the hospital? Was it bad or do you remember girl? I remember that name for some reason... Deb, you need to email me your numbers or call me. I accidently deleted your message before I got your cell phone number off. Hey guys, I looked quickly online earlier today about cruises. I couldn't help myself. It really didn't give me any info on groups. I need to look further.

Have you heard anything about the huricane close to Sandy or Diane's daughter? We will pray for them and all of them that are in harm's way.

Jane

Just got in. Thanks Jane for asking about Shanna, she is fine. Lots of rain she said but no flooding. Now will have to see what Ike and Josepine do. Looked up Jerry Reed, don't remember him. I am in for the night, have had a not so good day. Maybe tomorrow will look better.
