After graduating SUNY Plattsburgh I landed a gig as a videographer at a local CBS affiliate in Albany, NY. I survived there for 12 years and then bailed in 2005 when an rare opportunity to shoot a "Around the World" documentary came calling.
I took to the high seas on a ship for 4 months with 700 bratty college kids, capturing their adventures in Venezuela, Brazil, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Burma, Vietnam, China, Japan and Hawaii. When I returned home I lamented returning to tv news so I started PilotGirl Productions instead, a freelance documentary and broadcast business.
Travel is a necessity as a freelancer so I continue to fly the world. Even when I'm not working I'm still in motion as a travel writer. See my articles on Taiwan, Malaysia, Greenland, Argentina, Panama and Finland.
Even though I'm up to my eyeballs in debt (lots of equipment) life is so f**ing good I kiss the ground I walk on for my immediate success. See some of my work on my website pilotgirl.tv or www.beyondtheepicrun.com or www.viapapale.com.
