Welcome to the McPherson High School

Class of 1966 Website

Take a few minutes to look around. When you are ready to sign in for the first time:

Find your name under Classmate Profiles, click on it and fill in your profile.  We'd love to see photos, too!  They are very easy to add but if you need help, just ask. Don't forget to update your profile occasionally. If you have a sibling who would like to be a guest member, just let us know. In addition, if you'd like to be a guest member on one of the other MHS sites listed below click on their "Contact Us" button or let us know and we will facilitate your request.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to our newest guest member, Gerald "Speedy" Miller ('64). He has posted a few photos you will enjoy seeing - - you know, those photos you always hoped would never see the light of day (just kidding). While you're on his page feel free to leave a greeting.

Speaking of photos, we're always looking for pics of any of our classmates or of McPherson, new or old. You can post them on your own profile or send them to me and I will be happy to add them to an album. While I've got the floor, I would encourage you to update your profile. Show us those precious grandkids or great grandkids and your prize winning peonies. We'd love to see them.

You are also welcome to invite siblings of our class members or members of other MHS classes, like Arnelle did with Speedy, to be guest members.  Again, welcome Speedy!

Most of us remember The Mickey Mouse Club and we recall the serials witih fondness. One of our favorites was "Spin and Marty".  Here is an interview from a few years back with the characters, Tim Considine and David Stollery. This is guaranteed to bring back some memories.

"Hey, you yardbirds!"  Remember that? Who could forget geometry teacher, Harry Heckethorn? Can you believe that Muriel Bechtel Embers ('61) actually had the forsight to copy down the sayings Mr. Heckethorn wrote on the chalkboard of his room?  She later used them when she taught math at MHS. She gave us permission to share them with you several years ago which we did. We're sharing again now just for fun.

Chalk Dust

from Harry Heckethorn

Flattery is soft soap, and soap is 90% lye.

A chip on the shoulder indicates wood higher up.

Many an argument is sound--just sound, nothing more.

An egotist is one who suffers from "I" strain.

When you close your eye to temptation, be sure you don't make it look like a wink.

The best way to kill time is to work it to death.

Don't try to climb the ladder of success wrong by wrong.

Keep your head up, but be sure you keep your nose at a friendly angle.

Hopefully some of you remember "Chalk Dust" which had a new saying each day in Harry's room. Look for more to come. mbe
