Married in 1983, living in Regina, Kindersley & Lloydminster with a child born in each location.
Keith is a mechanical engineer but felt a strong pull of the land buying his first quarter of land the year he graduated from university. We gradually bought more land and farming on weekend and holidays was becoming increasingly difficult. This was made possible by Keith's brother living at Melfort. We moved to the farm where Keith grew up in 1997. We were very excited to move to the farm and thought that the worst that could happen was we'd have to get jobs. We have survived through drought, BSE, frost and far too much rain. The farming outlook has improved significantly and we are very happy that we've raised our kids on the farm.
Our children have been active in the farming operation whether it's raising a pen of chickens or driving trucks or the combine.
They have all been in Beef 4-H and our daughter was also in Horse 4-H. All have played hockey, volleyball and been in an exceptional band program within the school.
I was surprised to find it "too quiet" when Andrew started school so I started working three days a week in Kinistino. I've been with AgWorld in Kinistino for fifteen years now and it allows me the chance to learn something different and to socialize in a different setting.
When I was in high school all I wanted to do was be done!!! I had no career aspirations and it wasn't until we'd been married a couple of years that I realized I would have enjoyed different carreers but by then I was eager to start a family!
Zoom ahead many years and all our kids are grown and independent. Both boys work off the farm and also farm. Our daughter and her husband are both teachers. Our first two are married with each being married in our yard. I'm not a grandma yet but am looking forward to that day!
40 years is a long time but it certainly doesn't seem that long since high school.
We have been very fortunate thus far to lead a full, happy & healthy life, blessed with three great children we're very proud of.
The last ten years or so we've done some travelling and I love it! We've done the typical Mexican all inclusives a number of times and went to London when daughter lived there. My absolute favourite was going to Italy two years ago, that was a dream come true and I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
March 18, 2023: Updated info: I retired at the end of 2020 but have since taken a 10 month term position as an EA in the Birch Hills school. My time is always occupied spring through fall but winters I find rather long. I guess I will eventually retire but really enjoy the social aspect of working.
We have become grandparents to 3 little ones now! They are the most fun in the world and I role that new role!
