Music

washes away from the soul

the dust of everyday life.

Without community service,

we would not have a strong quality of life.

It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient.

It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.

~Dorothy Height~

Good morning Estella,

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sure you know who

Dorothy Height was and what she meant to the activist

community. There's an old adage that says, "Do not strive to

make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt".

Dorothy's absence as an activist, has absolutely been felt, as has

the absence of the various communications on this website. I'm

simply attempting to mimic some of her actions, to get this

website buzzing again. It's great to see your name afresh and

thank you once again for your assistance with obtaining Evelyn's

address. Stay safe my friend and enjoy your day....

for every problem there is a solution,

and the soul's indefeasible duty

is to be of good cheer.

Hi Kenneth and classmates. I haven't been on the site in months. It's great to be back. I have a lot of catching up to do and I will enjoy all of the great music that I have missed. I haven't sang that song by Mahalia Jackson ..."while the due is still on the roses" since I was in high school. Thank you Kenneth for your perserverance and keeping us connected.

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

Those who stand at the threshold of life

always waiting for the right time to change

are like the man who stands at the bank of a river

waiting for the water to pass

so he can cross on dry land.

Good morning Patricia! Welcome back. We used to

sing that song during morning devotion, at Alonzo Locke

Elementary....

Hello Kenneth & Warrior Classmates,

I have not responded on the message forum for a while, but Kenneth you are always an inspiration to us all! I really love your "Thought for Consideration" quotes, especially the one for today on waiting to change!

We have all gone through trials and tribulations this past year & I pray that we have all come out on the other side a little more grateful, thankful, and grounded in our faith. This thing called Life really has a way of teaching us about taking the small things for granted.

I'm hoping that we have another chance to get together as a group to see each other again. Maybe some kind of outdoor function, just to celebrate Life!

I hope everyone that is reading this

is having a really good day.

And if you are not,

just know that in every new minute that passes

you have an opportunity to change that.

~Gillian Anderson~

Good afternoon Lillian! Your resolve to once again post a

greeting on the website, is towering. I used to watch Gillian as

FBI Special Agent Dana Scully on the tv series X-Files. Although

based on paranormal science fiction, the subject of change and

the opportunity to change was a consistant theme. Agent

Mulder believed in the existance of aliens and the paranormal,

while Agent Scully, a medical doctor and skeptic, was assigned

to scientifically analyze Mulder's discoveries, offer alternate

rational theories to his work, and thus return him to

mainstream cases. Needless to say, the series was the longest

running science fiction tv series in the US.

Even today, there's quite a bit of talk in the news about aliens

and UFO's. This website has sustained a long run, since it's

establishment and it's great to read a post from one of the

original members. With the new social media competition

available, it's easy to do what's simple or what first comes to

mind. I particularly agree with your statement, "This thing

called Life really has a way of teaching us about taking the small

things for granted". There was a time when we couldn't stay off

this website, however it's become a small thing that we take for

granted. Prayerfully others will also resolve to communicate

here after seeing your post. I shouldn't become the only person

acknowledged. After all, there were 464 members of our class.

The planning for an outdoor function, just to celebrate life,

could began here. I'll continue to post "Thoughts For

Consideration", as long as I'm blessed to do so. Thank you so

much for reaching out to your classmates, on this, "Our Forum".

When we were attending the various neighborhood elementary

schools a distinguished gentleman made the following

statement; Change is the law of life. And those who look only to

the past or present are certain to miss the future. (John F.

Kennedy) Here's waiting for a wholesome change to come, with

a return by others to our website....be blessed and stay safe my

friend....

My friends,

love is better than anger.

Hope is better than fear.

Optimism is better than despair.

So let us be loving,

hopeful and optimistic.

And we'll change the world.

~Jack Layton~

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

Everyone has a purpose in life

and a unique talent to give to others.

And when we blend this unique talent with service to others,

we experience the ecstasy and exultation of own spirit,

which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

Many people feel so pressured by the expectations of others

that it causes them to be frustrated, miserable and confused

about what they should do. But there is a way to live a simple,

joy-filled, peaceful life, and the key is learning how to be led by

the Holy Spirit, not the traditions or expectations of man.

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

The sea, once it casts its spell,

holds one in its net of wonder forever.

We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one.

Water and air,

the two essential fluids on which all life depends,

have become global garbage cans.

Mankind has probably done more damage to the Earth

in the 20th century than in all of previous human history.

People protect what they love.

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

In the world at large,

people are rewarded or punished

in ways that are often utterly random.

In the garden,

cause and effect, labor and reward, are re-coupled.

Gardening makes sense in a senseless world.

By extension, then,

the more gardens in the world,

the more justice,

the more sense is created.

Give yourself a gift of five minutes of contemplation in awe of

everything you see around you. Go outside and turn your

attention to the many miracles around you. This five-minute-a-

day regimen of appreciation and gratitude will help you to focus

your life in awe.

What is one to say about June,

the time of perfect young summer,

the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months,

and with as yet no sign to remind one

that its fresh young beauty will ever fade.

~Gertrude Jekyll~

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO JUNE'S LAST ROSES

Happy Birthdays to the remaining Lady June Celebrities. As

Gertrude has said, there’s yet no sign to remind one that the

fresh young beauty of June will ever fade. May you continue to

exemplify the beauty and blessings of grace and mercy, in which

the month of June brings to you all. Everyone who reaches a

milestone birthday in their lives has an opportunity to truly

appreciate the fact that presumably we have acquired all the

gifts that maturity and age can bring us. (Judith Durham)

However, at our age, we haven’t.  How far you go in life

depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate

with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the

weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will

have been all of these. (George Washington Carver) 1st

Timothy 4:12 Easy To Read Version states that "You are young,

but don’t let anyone treat you as if you are not important. Be an

example to show the believers how they should live. Show them

by what you say, by the way you live, by your love, by your faith,

and by your pure life". As we enter into another phase of this

pandemic and return to the resemblance of a normal life, may

your days of celebration reflect a Nicholas Cole composition.

May your celebrations of life in the days to come be full of

Endless Possibilities…..enjoy your celebrations…..stay safe

my friends…..

will become a joyous occasion. Enjoy life as best you can and

continue to advance this quote...I want to congratulate all men

they are stepfathers or biological fathers, or just spiritual

fathers...~T D Jakes~

Good Evening Classmates!

Please keep our classmates, Betty Boyd and Marzella Boyd in prayer. One of their younger sisters, Lillie Boyd (also a Warrior), transitioned last week.  A praise report - Marzella had been hospitalized as well, but was slated to go home this past Monday.

God is a good God; He is a great God!

Be Blessed!

Art owes its origin to Nature herself...

this beautiful creation,

while the original teacher

was that divine intelligence

which has not only made us superior to the other animals,

but like God Himself,

if I may venture to say it.

THOUGHT FOR CONSIDERATION

The single overriding objective in wellness

is creating constant personal renewal

where we recognize and act on the truth

that each day is a miraculous gift,

and our job is to untie the ribbons.

That's the Law of Esprit: living life with joy.

~Greg Anderson~

Has anyone seen, or heard from Linda Brown lately, since the

transition of her sister Peaches? Too far away to do a drive by

for a wellness check. Any other BFF’s out there available, with

knowledge of her well being? Just trying to untie the ribbons on

an unusual timeframe related to the basic absence of

normal communications.

Have YOU checked on a classmate lately????
