GOOD MORNING WARRIOR FAMILY

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

 T H O U G H T   F O R   C O N S I D E R A T I O N

Whatever attracts the mind from God, whatever draws the affections away from Christ, is an enemy to the soul. God tests and proves us by the common occurrences of life. It is the little things which reveal the chapters of the heart. Workers for Christ are never to think, much less to speak, of failure in their work. The Lord Jesus is our efficiency in all things; His Spirit is to be our inspiration; and as we place ourselves in His hands, to be channels of light, our means of doing good will never be exhausted. We may draw upon His fulness, and receive of that grace which has no limit.

BIRTH ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS
TO
ANN IVY WINN
 &
CHERLYN HARRIS CONNER

On this wonderful day, we the "Class of 1970" wish you the best that life has to offer. As you get older, three things normally happen. The first is your memory goes, and for some reason, I can't seem to remember the other twosurprisewink..... Happy Birthday to you both and Merry Christmas too!!!! Written by Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol" recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. Today is a kind of Chrismas Carol, with the two of you being born on Christmas day. Now that you've achieved the most cherished milestone of "Threescore And Ten", you may, in the woke political sense, be considered elderly. If you consider yourself a miser also, that's not so bad either. As you realize the benefits of being transformed into a kinder, gentler woman, while reliving the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come, may these words of Charles Dickens empower you to face the next decade of promise.
"Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man/woman has many - not on your past misfortunes, of which all men/women have some. The most important thing in life is to stop saying 'I wish' and start saying 'I will.' Consider nothing impossible, then treat possibilities as probabilities. Happiness is a gift and the trick is not to expect it, but to delight in it when it comes. Try to do unto others as you would have them do to you, and do not be discouraged if they fail sometimes. It is much better that they should fail than you should. Cheerfulness and contentment are great beautifiers, and are famous preservers of good looks. I will live in the past, the present, and the future. The spirits of all three shall strive within me. A contented spirit is the sweetness of existence".
Over each day of the upcoming year, we also wish you the continuous and bountiful gifts of what I call the "Trinity Triangle", Grace, Mercy and Favour. God's grace and mercy are bigger than the biggest challenge we may face today and the worst decision we might make today. Just having an awareness of God's mercy and compassion for us is a great motivation for us to be merciful and compassionate to other people and to take steps toward encountering God (Jonathan Morris). As you celebrate Christmas or your birthday, I wish you an Evvie McKinney type of day. On this day, you were blessed with the characteristics of selflessness, forgiveness and creativity. Such personnal attributes may be said in the Southern vernacular as "Ain't That Just Like God"....enjoy your day ladies, stay safe and be blessed my friends....

'Thank you' is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.

Thank you Marsha, for sharing your Facebook information and the final service arrangements. Those of us on this website, who are not members of the Facebook community, appreciate the opportunity to see that a "Go Fund Me" account has been established for James Moten Jr... With your decision, comes the opportunity for classmates to participate.

Your world is a living expression of how you are using and have used your mind. Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality. Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.

BIRTH ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS
TO
IRETHA ROLFE WILKINS

Threescore and Seventy-two years ago, on this day, God decided to send a loyal soul to earth. This loyal and dedicated soul, was meant to touch lives and her mission has been recurring continuously over the decades. Your birthday is the first day of another 365 day journey. May you be the shining thread of initiative, potential and singularity in the beautiful tapestry of this world, to make 2023 the best year ever. Your classmates wish you a Happy Birthday, combined with 365 days full of the blessings of Grace, Favour and Mercy. Our Father in Heaven needs you to be who you are.... You are very important. You don't have the power to make rainbows or waterfalls, sunsets or roses, but you do have the power to bless people by your words and smiles. You carry within you the power to make the world better (Sharon G. Larsen)
Maya Angelou once stated; My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you will look forward, do so prayerfully. But the wisest course would be to be present in the present gratefully. At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel. Continue. Be loving and be strong. Be fierce and be kind. And don't give in and don't give up.' As you celebrate or choose not to, we realize that yesterday was Christmas . However, I'm wishing you a Take 6 kind of day. We're celebrating with you today, because "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"....enjoy your day my friend...stay safe and be blessed....

Good morning Jimmy Powell. Hopefully, all of the families you mentioned have either recovered from COVID, or they're close to total recovery. Thank you for your recurring visits to the website. Your administrators are grateful that you're enjoying the contents. However, I'm not totally responsible for it's origins. It belongs to, and was established by, "The Class of 1970". Just as seeing the various faces brings back memories, I chose to stop in to see Curtis Farmer during my road trip. That visit made both our days brighter. What's a one hour drive from Alabama to Florida, when you haven't seen a classmate since graduation...52 years in comparison to an hour isn't much.

I'd planned to visit with James "Tojo" Smith, Tilton Fossett and Gary Hightower, but circumstances wouldn't allow us the opportunity (please include each of the brothers mentioned, in your prayers). I was able to speak with James and Tilton. Our numbers are diminishing as each year comes to an end. It's important for us to check on each other. So please continue to visit the website, encourage other classmates to visit and keep posting your comments. You may not realize it, but there are classmates who appreciate hearing from you. My only wish, that others would drop an occasional line. Stay safe my friend...be blessed...

The reason why we're warriors is that we rise to the occasion; anyone that's felt like the system put them down, and then they rose to the occasion, they're a warrior. It's not about whether you come from the hood or you come from the suburbs, you know what I mean? It's about reality and life. At the end of the day, just know that God made you, so you can be your own individual, and don't let people give you that peer pressure. The first thing you must learn is to always treat a man and a woman with total respect and honor, 'cause if you do that, the legacy you will leave behind will be work.

The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it. If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness. Only then is it possible to help him. Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food. But to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness. If you are not your own doctor, you are a fool.

One Major Effect of Eating Cantaloupe
Story by Sydney Greene, MS, RD © Provided by Eat This, Not That!

Vitamin A is actually a general term that refers to a larger group of fat-soluble compounds. Fat-soluble vitamins are different from water-soluble vitamins because they need to be consumed with a source of fat in order to be absorbed and used effectively. Vitamin A is found in animal sources as preformed vitamin A and in fruits and vegetables as provitamin A carotenoids. Provitamin A carotenoids differ from the preformed vitamin A found in animal sources because they need to be converted to an active form of Vitamin A in the body whereas preformed vitamin A is already in its active form. In plant foods that contain vitamin A, specifically cantaloupe, the carotenoids found are beta carotene. You may have heard of beta carotene before, especially in regards to vibrant orange and yellow fruits and vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes. Orange and yellow plants get their color from carotenoids which are simply pigments synthesized by the plant. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants that may be responsible for cancer prevention and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.

Cantaloupe is an excellent source of provitamin A carotenoids. One-half of a medium-sized cantaloupe contains roughly 15% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin A per day. Although the form of Vitamin A in cantaloupe is in the form of beta carotene which needs to be activated in the body, this is still considered a good source of vitamin A, which is great news for vegans. Vitamin A is crucial for growth and development, hormonal health, immune function, and effective cellular communication. Most well-known for its role in eye health, vitamin A is an essential component of one of the proteins in the eye that responds to light. For women, consuming enough vitamin A is important for the optimal functioning of iron in the body as the two work synergistically.
Because vitamin A is fat-soluble, it is important to consume your cantaloupe with healthy fat to help absorption. Some tasty ideas include cantaloupe and full-fat cottage cheese, cantaloupe and avocado salad, or diced cantaloupe with shredded coconut flakes. An extra benefit of consuming cantaloupe frequently is that it will help with hydration. Cantaloupe is 90% water, meaning it will hydrate the cells of your body while nourishing them at the same time, pretty awesome.

Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.

Remind your self. Identity is a prison you can never escape, but the way to redeem your past is not to run from it, but to try to understand it, and use it as a foundation to grow. Nobody constructed like you, you style your self. You can put a new shirt on your back, slide a fresh chain around your neck, and accumulate all the money and power in the world, but at the end of the day those are just layers. Money and power don't change you, they just further expose your true self. I've never looked at myself and said that I need to be a certain way to be around a certain sort of people. I've always wanted to stay true to myself, and I've managed to do that. People have to accept that. A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.

The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. Let's start a new tomorrow, today.

SMOOTH JAZZ FRIDAYS

I may be prejudiced, but I believe that jazz music has the strongest healing potential, and it's not just because I play it and love it so much. I feel that it's the improvisation in jazz that makes it so strong as a healing tool, what each individual gives to a tune from their heart and their soul when they take a solo. It's all spontaneous, and it's all love, and from the heart.

And to remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken, the times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt, because that's what new year's all about, getting another chance, a chance to forgive. to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more, and to stop worrying about what if and start embracing what will be. so when that ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, and not just tonight but all year long.
