Meaningful Life

"Having a meaningful life and being content doesn't come from being rich. It doesn't come from being popular. It doesn't come from being highly educated or thinking you're perfect.

Being content and having a meaningful life comes from being honest, humble and real. It comes from being strong and standing up for your beliefs. It comes from fighting for what is right. It comes from sharing our lives by loving and serving and touching the lives of others." ~Doug Gonser

Annie, Anita  & Susie,

I must join with Mickey & Larry with this Warrior Chant. Jean always refered to me as "Mr. Dipoloma" and I loved her for that. As referenced above, she lived a "Meaningful Life", always was honest and completely real! All of the attributes expressed above, were a part of her life because she was strong, would always stand for her beliefs and would throw down for her beliefs. I'm talking about LeMoyne Gardens throwing down!!  She always shared her life with love and touched everyone who knew her. She lived a meaningful life.............

Hi,everyone,I hope that many of you are planning to attend the "Happy Hour/Homecoming Game" on Friday,October,25th.We are talking to other BTW classes to attend as well.We want to have a great turnout so that we can donate money to the school. The school is always in need of donations, and thanks to the tailgating parties,we have managed to make a few donations. The principal and athletic director have thanked us after each game ,for feeding the players and coaches, for our generous donations, and for being there to support the school.I saw one of our classmates on Saturday night at my sister's memorial service,Olivia Johnson Kimball.I talked to her  about coming to the game and becoming active in alumni activities, she stated she would see us at the homecoming game.I hope to see you there as well.Take care and stay safe.      Audrey

To the classmates of 1970

Ech committee member will be responsible for alphabets by maiden last names as we first knew them. This is a way of sharing the duties so that one person will not carry the load of most of the work. The members can be contacted at the numbers listed and are responsible fo r getting them the resolutions and cards. Thank you gain. We need your in put to be able to function well.

Members:

A-E   Mickey    413-6130

F-J    John         (323) 547-6991

K-O   Audrey    949-4369

P-S    Norma     626-9581

T-Z    William    336-2443

There have been several recent inquiries as to our inactivity. I have reminded our alumni members that our ability to function effectively is only as good as the information that we receive. We need to encourage each other to report ill and deceased members and immediate family members.

We have not completed a plan to acquire flowers. If you know someone who has a florist shop that might be willing to let us order the flowers and bill us please let Robert know. A system like this would facilitate our efforts. As agreed upon, It is our desire for at least one committee or alumni member to attend the funeral and each deceased classmate.  It is also our desire that our committee funds grow so that we are able to expand our outreach and be able to contribute to classmates that are in need.

BTW Benevolence Class of 1770.

Thank you,

The Family of Ethel Prewitt, her warrior family (all of us) and friends have my deepest Condolences. I did not know her well but  we all need a bit of uplifting during this time of sorrow. No, I'm not a poet, I just get a bit inspired on occassion.

Lots of Love - Gwen

The Gardener and Ethel

GOD looked around His garden,
And found an empty space.
Then, He looked down upon the earth,
And saw Ethel’s beautiful face.
He put His arms around her,
And whispered in her ear.
Come home to me my child,
Your deeds are done down there.
I have a special place for you,
Come sit with me and rest,
Your friends and family love you,
But my child, I love you best.
Come add more beauty to my garden,
Come sit around my throne,
Ethel you’re so precious to me,
I’m pleased to have you home.

I'd like to wish a belated "Happy Birthday" to Deloris and Beverly. This late acknowledgement was due to my immediate concern for my Mom's health. She recently suffered an acute stroke, however she has been released from the hospital and placed under hospice care. I request your forgiveness and I also solicit your prayers for my family at this time. I was in Memphis last week by her bedside and didn't have time to visit others. Looking forward to seeing you both in the near future.

Kenneth my prayers are with you and your family. My mom live next door to me and still get around, but slowly. And still I don't feel I can keep a close enough eye on her. As you can imagine she mean the world to me and my family. May God bless U and yours.

Hey guys,

We had a great time at the Homecoming Happy Hour and Tailgate party.  It got a little cold, but that's how football weather is.  When we had enough wine and hors d'oeuvres at the Gay Hawk, we headed across the street, just in time for the kick off.  Alumni's from the 50's to 2013 were present.  As the temperature dropped, we served hot chocolate, chili, hot dogs, pork shoulder and smoke sausages, as we put a whipping on Northside. After the game as always we fed the football team and band members. Look for pictures on the web-site soon.

We've had positive turnout at each of the "home game tailgate parties" and our numbers are increasing.  We'll look into how we can support the basketball team, so stay tuned.  The basketball schedule will be posted soon and we have a good team of warriors representing BTW this year.  We plan to be with the school, at the school and for for the school to lend support, however we can.  Would love to have you join us!

Kenneth

I pray that the God of heaven and earth send his Holy Spirit to comfort and strengthen you and your family at this time.  Your mom has truly been a blessed soldier for The Lord and He has called her to rest.  May God give you peace knowing she is at rest.

"For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ: which is far better:.........to abide in the flesh is more needful for you."  Philippians 1:23-24

Love to you and your Family
